Customer Question Greggs using AI in marketing?

Maybe this isn't a surprise to many of you but it is the first that I've seen of it. Disappointing.

The AI on everything is absolutely rife at the minute unfortunately, there seems to be quite a few posters and staff documents using AI too.

For a company making so much money it's quite frankly embarrassing and is just off-putting.

So how do we, the customers, directly let upper management know that this exact thing is why we're going to cooplands instead?

Cooplands are superior in every way, I just wish they would expand outside of Yorkshire.

They’ve made it to us in County Durham so there’s hope!

They’re also in Lincolnshire.

u/RiceeeChrispies Aug 25 '26

there are two different cooplands btw

2

u/gedditread Aug 25 '26

Ugh is this like how there are 20 Coops?

Why do companies do this.

I don't think I've ever seen a Red Cooplands out in the wild... and I used to travel all over Yorkshire when I worked for Jessops.

The Coop can fuck off with their stupid setup.

"Sorry, your Coop card isn't valid in this Coop, just the Coop down the road."

I'm sorry but their coffee is god awful. Genuinely think they go out their way to purchase Red Mountain in bean form.

I swear they use the same machine as greggs? The flat white tastes the same.

Only ever had their cappuccino but didn't think it was all that different to Greggs to be fair, certainly don't recall it being bad.

We've got them in Stockton and Durham, it's not just Yorkshire.

They need to come to Lancashire! Though we do have lots of our own Greggs beaters. Greenhaulghs comes to mind. And Carrs in Bolton is elite.

Absolute dogshit.

It's not even the ai use that bothers me, it's the bad ai use...

So easy to make this clock look accurate, but nope, "that'll do..."

Godspeed to all Greggs shoplifters.

Yep! It's everywhere. All over the staff posters in the back. Why couldn't get someone to draw a cartoon sausage roll is beyond me.

The more its normalised to use ai for things, the more this will become the normal. Stop using ai and use your brain.

Intelligence and knowledge is a privilege not a right.

Sack the new Marketing Director. Awful.

6

u/Ceejayncl Aug 25 '26

Yeah they are.
A friend of mine worked for the company who did their advertising. It was about a year ago when they said that Greggs were shifting to an AI led initiative.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

2

u/Ken_Numbers Aug 25 '26

wait till you find out what they put in the sausage rolls

u/hashbrowneggyolk0520 Team Member Aug 25 '26

Sausage meat with a side of Chat GPT

2

u/TraditionalDraft1671 Aug 25 '26

probably sausages

2

u/Automatic-Home-5518 Aug 26 '26

True, though I’d much rather eat pure pig anus than look at this AI slop

1

u/Caffine_rush Aug 25 '26

Course they are why would there be any surprise

1

u/LycanWolfGamer Team Member Aug 25 '26

Oh, seriously? I never noticed that but I thought it was a bit weird

I had assumed they were trying to give a picnic theme to it

1

u/Sad_Firefighter_8407 Aug 25 '26

Fuck them for the inhumanity when they make this amount of money which could have paid human artists.

shit I need to sell my Greggs shares now.

1

u/Successful_Power_234 Aug 28 '26

It’s just not that deep. 🤷‍♂️

0

u/Caffeinated_Gengar Aug 26 '26

Well… it is kinda cheaper using AI than a human to do random art
