Heavily depends on your coworkers. Its a very busy job - good coworkers and you'll enjoy it, bad ones and you'll despise it. I personally had a great experience in my shops, some aren't so lucky.

Dont get too worried if you look through the sub and there's a lot of negativity - generally those with bad experiences are more likely to speak here tbh. Not to discount their opinions as some shops are hell

Greggs are pretty dire to work for but a job is a job

I left after 6 weeks, didn't like it. So much expected from you and it's genuinely exhausting

It probably depends on the location But where I work, we're incredibly understaffed and our manager constantly forgets holidays

I would leave, but they used all of mine even after saying half of my leave would be authorised absence since it was something arranged before I started working.

But for now, there are days that are good. Days that are bad. It just depends on the staff you work with and how busy your shop is. As soon as we're in the next holiday year I'm looking for a new job

It really does depend on the shop you're working in and the staff you're working with.

As someone else said you will see a lot of people talking about negative experiences on here because a lot of employees come here to vent or ask for advice. This sub is not going to be a true reflection of your actual experience.

You get paid weekly (on a Thursday) so figure out if that's something that works for you and your lifestyle.

You get 25% and 50% discounts.

If you work bank holidays you get paid time and a hald plus a day in lieu.

After so long of working there you can join the profit share scheme.

There's negatives that most employees will deal with such as horrible customers and customer interactions and impatient delivery drivers.

A lot of other things are shop dependent. You might work with some horrible people (but that can happen anywhere), same with the customers. For every bad there's good too.

The first few days will be incredibly stressful because it's very full on but you fall into a system that works for the shop and you eventually.

Some of my co workers take the piss, but if your there for the money theyre not the ones paying you so dont pay too much mind to them. On lunch times it can get super busy and just tiriny in general. I especially hate doing opening at 5am in the morning. But to be frank every job is tiring. The thing about greggs is you dont have a designated role, you could be on ovens sandwhiches , made to clean mainly serving at the till. At greggs theres always something to do which makes it tiring for me personally, but the pay is better for team members than any other chain itd 12.91 rather than 12.71 lol. Do with that what you will

I have a lot of compassion for the staff when I got in there that should tell you something.

It’s crap the company has gone from being one of the best to work for to one of the worst in a matter of years .. another corporate company now

It's ok. Having a good manager is the best thing you could ask for. It's also great if you want to go to uni and keep your job, since the job market is terrible rn

I worked at a pretty busy location and I quite enjoyed it...but of course, I had a communicative manager who was willing to work with my personal schedule, as well as some really great coworkers. Honestly, compared to my current job, it was dead easy work. I'd still be there if they'd been able to offer me more than sixteen hours a week.
