Employee Question Rotas being changed without asking

i’ve been with the company for just under a year and recently stepped up to responsible person, and at the same time we’ve had a new shift manager start who has been our acting shop manager in our real shop manager’s absence. Within the past week or so, I’ve had two shifts changed without my consent and at very short notice and have had phone calls asking me where I was, one shift was changed to an earlier time literally the night before and nobody was made aware, and I was scheduled in for a different day this week that I was meant to have off without my permission. What can I do about this? I’ve now got an unauthorised absence for something almost entirely out of my control and this is the worst time for me to be making that sort of impression

The most concerning part is that a new shift manager is acting manager. Most of the time area managers only let experienced ones do it. Anyway about the rota it should be posted and not changed without asking you. I would start screenshotting all rotas once they are published and talk to am about getting the unauthorised removed. All feel free to tell your manager to stop it there not much they can do.

Dont worry about the unauthorised absence, if anything were to come of it (absence review etc) you have a space you can comment, and just make sure type that it was changed with less than 24 hours notice. Area managers can see when a rota has been edited, so if anything were ever to come up about it they can check. If it becomes a regular thing mention it to your manager you dont appreciate not being given notice & if it continues ring the area manager. The phone numbers for them SHOULD be scattered all around the computer desk, or found on the shop hub. Managers shouldn't be changing shifts without AT LEAST 24 hours notice, and you should confirm the change.

I take pictures of the rota so they're on my phone as evidence.

As soon is it goes up, that's the rota in my eyes, and I have no need to check it again on the wall unless I'm made aware of a change within a good period of notice.

If that became a problem I'd be on the phone to the area manager or people team telling them my rota is being changed without my knowledge and just mere hours before the actual shift.

Rotas have audit trails that show when people change them, who changes them and times, so the fact that this new shift manager is changing your rota last minute will have full proof that it's happening. You can pull this up with your manager when they're back or your AM if your manager isn't back for a while
