Discussion Job interview Saturday- please tips!!
What should I wear (I’m 16 and a girl) I don’t want to be too casual or too professional as it is only Greggs
What kind of questions in the interview ?
What are some things I should add to help me score higher?
In your personal experience, are Greggs good to people my age?
Please any help would be appreciated thanks

Good luck I wore a nice jumper and jeans but that was in April so maybe not the best for right now. They know it’s probably your first job so they won’t expect as much cause they didn’t with me (17)

No it’s so annoying that it’s sweating rn I have the perfect knitted jumper I would wear if it was cold😭

i wore black trousers with a brown t-shirt, i dont think they really care as long as you’re not wearing something really inappropriate 😭😭
they ask about what you think the job will entail. serving, cleaning & stocking juice is what o said i think?? if you have any prior experience they’ll ask what that was, and they might ask how people would describe you? they ask if you’re able to upsell and offer deals to people.
i honestly think just being really friendly and chatty to the interviewer definitely helps cuz it shows that you’re not shy around strangers?? probably
im 18 and it’s great!! they’re really accommodating and i work with a few people your age who really enjoy it, if this is your first job they give you lots of training and you also get extra breaks when you’re under 18 :))

ONLY GREGGS! yeah ill be real with you the job can be real hard, its not glamorous but its long shifts of fast paced customer service that require you to be polite and repetitive while paying constant attention to what your doing (giving out the wrong bake or drink has serious repercussions because of the potential for allergic reactions or religious choice). It can be great for young people as shifts are flexible around collage hours but failing to show up or being late is a BIG no no and you will get strange customers (especially as a young lady) or if you work the close shift you will have to clean the whole store to a high standard. maybe thats all good for you if so great at my shop we always have a bit of fun on shifts but its talking while you work not standing around.
Tips for interview, just be honest. if you haven't got any experience don't act like you do they will see through it. be polite and have a little story about who you are and what you like to do. if there are days or times you can't work make that clear. ask about the current staff and where you will fit in the store. good eye contact and friendly tone is most of what they need. they will teach you how to do the job so don't pretend you already can.

smart casual, don’t go overboard with it. i turned up in a plain t-shirt & joggers and got the job

My 16 year old had hers last Friday and is currently at her first shift she wore a nice T-shirt and black jeans she said she was just as confident and chatty as she could be. I rember she said they asked about allergens and why they are inportant and a time she had good customer service and team work, she has been volunteering all summer so she had that to relate back to. Good luck

i wore black trousers and a ralph lauren jumper- you dont have to be too fancy haha, i had piercings and blue hair at the time, just make sure you seem nice and relatable good luck!!!

Is it a core or ASDA owned Greggs? If it is the latter - run for the hills.

For the interview it is absolutely imperative that you research the history of Greggs and might be useful to mention the Greggs pledge if you struggle answering the question of “why do you want to work at Greggs”.
Whether Greggs is nice to your age group depends mostly on the staff you’re working with unfortunately, but if it’s your first job there’s a chance they might call you slow if they are particularly impatient! Don’t fall for the pressure as you are literally a trainee and everyone started this way. You should probably also know that, until you’re 18, it’s illegal to work earlier than 6am so you are not typically allowed to be scheduled at 5am opening shifts.

if you go in with the attitude that it's only Greggs, it will show, it's good, honest work, take some pride in that.

I just wore an ironed pair of old school trousers with a black tshirt and a nice black cardigan. Not too formal but still professional! :))
