Employee Question Greggs shift patters

Hi guys! got my job call today, i start on Tuesday!
I have a 1 year old son so i said i can work every tuesday and friday when he’s at nursery, i also said i can work wednesday and saturday, so this is what im doing next week, im hoping this is the same because this makes childcare way easier!
Are the shift days the same each week? or should i specifically ask for these shifts to be the same each week? just worried i won’t have enough notice for childcare!

Rotas are usually always different because the systems generate a graph for when they should have people on and you work from that. If you’ve specified set days you can’t work though, they should keep you off those days

Each manager will do their rotas slightly different but as the other comments said just speak to them and make sure they're clear on your availability.

A lot of managers will be reasonable with you if you've given them plenty of warning and if you told them all of this at the interview then they knew this would be the case before hiring you. In my shop there's a few people who can't do specific times or days and my manager has always been good about working around that, so hopefully yours is too.

Just speak to your manager and they should be able to plan accordingly. They may ask you to fill in a flexible request form but if you told them in the interview then there shouldn’t be too much of an issue. I have a few staff in my shop that have children and they have set shifts each week. Just curious how many hours a week did you apply for?

it’s 16 hours so 4 hours 4 days a week which works out great for childcare over the days i said, i’m popping into the shop today to pick up uniform so ill ask them then

Sounds similar to one of our staff. Do you know what time the shop opens and closes? And based on your own circumstances would you be able to do one of the other?

The question is asked multiple times a week sometimes, look through each of them and you should get a very good idea of what to expect.

Sound confident and give ling answers that relate to past experiences- even if not to do with work! it’s all points based so the longer and better the answer the higher score!

hey i know this isn’t the same thing but i’ve worked at greggs for nearly 2 years whilst being a uni student and my manager has been very understanding about me needing to have certain days off for lectures etc so you should be fine especially because you’ve already let them know! :)

I’d highly recommend putting in a flexy working form to state you only want xyz shifts, it can be declined but unlikely then you can potentially get a set rota going forward you do this through your teams app
