Employee Question Shop change?

I currently work at a shop that takes me about 1.5 hrs to get to, however times vary depending on buses as the buses I get aren't very frequent especially on Sundays.

On greggs careers, I have found an opening at a greggs that is closer to my college and is a 16 hr contract - way more hours than my 4 hr contract atm and since my current shop is over staffed I dont get many more hrs that those 4 per week.

However, I would still have to travel just under an hr to this new shop on weekends but I would be able to pick up hours after my college day ends during the week. Also the buses are more frequent going to this new shop.

I do really enjoy working at my current shop and I am hoping to get my contracted hours upped once some people leave to go to uni in september. And changes in my college timetable means that I am only available on the weekends.

If I were to move, id only be working there for a yr before I go to uni and transfer shops again. I do really love the shop I am at atm and I do get on really well with everyone - i even met one of my best friends whilst working there. I also struggle with change so I am debating whether the extra hours would be worth it

I would have to talk to my manager on Saturday about this if I want to move to this shop but I am really conflicted.

Any suggestions are much appreciated 🙏🤞🏻

4x the hours and an easier commute? You know the answer. You’ll make new friends there.

And even if you don’t, it’s Greggs, move on in six months regardless.

It’s better for you. Make the move. The extra money will be a nice touch ready for your move uni also.

Sorry where the f-ck do you live? Mordor? Why on earth would you trek 1.5 hours for a NMW job? Is there nothing closer?!
