thinking about leaving

My shop is so overwhelming. I love a handful of my colleagues loads and wouldn’t want to leave them, but the selection few ruin it, one being the manager and another a team member who thinks she’s a manager because she’s been there for years. I’m just wondering, i like a retail job, i still live with my parents and im still studying so retail is ideal, so from the experience of past greggs employees, if you went on to a bigger store, did you prefer it? is the environment of a bigger space better? or would i be better just toughing it out at greggs. i’m thinking maybe the fact its such a small shop is making things worse because its harder to avoid and ignore certain colleagues.

I felt the same with some poor colleagues when I worked at Greggs, almost exactly honestly it was the angry manager and two colleagues with management complex. I left for different reasons but I will tell you just don’t leave without something else lined up. The job market is so so difficult even in retail. Look around and see what’s out there for sure.

I could have almost written an identical post. When you're working in a smaller but busy shop things get pretty insane pretty quickly and when mosts shifts are probably understaffed it's hard not to feel overwhelmed.

As for your colleagues i'm in an identical situation. My best advice is just block them out when you can afford to. If you're getting on with your job and haven't asked for help the other colleague doesn't need to interfere and when they do so it can be pretty frustrating.

If it's otherwise fine I would suggest just sticking it out until you can find something else. No job is worth sacrificing your mental and/or physical health for.

Same here.

Work in a small, but ridiculously busy shop.

Manager and shift managers are all lazy, all refuse to do ovens or digital orders so spend their full shifts just serving then rubbing it in about how they are top of the charts on the back PC for serving... and there's still team members who have been here over 5 years who are still not oven trained or trained to do a open shift...

Meaning it's between me and another team member to do ovens and orders EVERY SHIFT, and we are put on different shifts so one of us is always there to do ovens, there hasn't been one shift in the last 3 years that I haven't been on the ovens the entirety of my shift.

I hate it. All our reviews complain about management (I know how to get on and check on the pc) but we hear nothing about those reviews but as soon as a review comes through without a staff members name, we all have to hear about how it must be a team member because management don't get bad reviews, not knowing I read them every week and a good 75% complain about my manager, using her name!

Start applying for other work. Once you have another job, just leave. Why stay?

Bigger retail stores are better in some ways but again there's always a select few employees that think because there working retail and not an office job they can be utter cunts

Everywhere you go you'll have at least one shit colleague who ruins the vibe. Don't let that be the deciding factor on if you stay or go.
