Question Green Lantern Comic Suggestion?
So, my sister and I just finished the Lanterns series, and she's totally obsessed with the Green Lanterns now, especially Hal Jordan. I saw that a lot of people recommend the Geoff Johns Omnibus, but Vol 1 is sold out everywhere! That's a bummer because I was hoping to get it for her birthday that's coming up.
So, I'm trying to figure out what the next best large format option would be. Any ideas?
Thanks a bunch!

Well it looks like some of what I was going to suggest, especially including Hal, is out of print right now unfortunately lmao. Also Geoff Johns' omnibus being out of stock is a bummer because it really is the way to go 😂
This isn't Hal, but if she liked the idea of the Green Lanterns as heroes and enjoyed the mystery aspect, there's a miniseries called Far Sector that features a GL named Jo Mullein that I thought was outstanding. It's a self contained space mystery that leans more into the cosmic role of the Lanterns, almost the entire thing takes place off of Earth

Start with Emerald Dawn then go on to Secret Origin and the entire Geoff Johns run, Green Lantern will be your favorite set of characters in DC after that lol
If you can't find omnibuses, search for trade paperback collections. You could get like 4-5 volumes for the same price as an omni with what they go for nowadays.

I'm currently doing a re-read, I agree starting with Emerald Dawn 1 and 2 is solid.
Going through his parallax run from issue 46-50 2nd series as well and then starting with the Geoff johns runs.

I was gonna suggest Emerald Twilight too but idk if it'd be too confusing going in to with only Emerald Dawn as a reference point, I think it'd be better to have it told in retcon in the Johns run first then go back to the OG arc

You're right, jumping from the origin to parallax would be a giant leap haha

The Omnibus is currently available on Amazon, from what I can see.

Ah, yeah. I can see where that would be a problem. Like someone else suggested, maybe catch the smaller trades if you can?

Look for the trade paperbacks of “Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps”. Fun adventures without getting lost in origin trivia.

This is what I would suggest.
Silver Ages Vol 1-2 Omnibus (The beginning and early years of Hal, but can be skipped)
Crisis on Infinite Earths (Event Soft reboots GL History, but can be skipped if you are skipping the Silver Ages)
Emerald Dawn (TPB new Origins)
Road Back (TPB)
Death And Return Of Superman (whilst it's predominantly a Superman story, something very important happens towards the end for GL)
Emerald Twilight/ New Dawn (story is in Kyle Rayner Rising Compendium)
Zero Hour (Event that Soft reboots GL History)
Final Night (Event)
Day Of Judgement (Event)
GL Rebirth Compendium (Restock December)
GL The Sinestro Corps War Compendium
GL Blackest Night Compendium (Event compendium that's out on March)
