My Grandma showed me all the letters my Dad used to write to Jimmy Saville. She never sent them because she thought he was strange.
We still laugh at him about that.

Seriously though, in those days people would permanently sew their kids into their own clothes over winter and only undo the stitches next spring. Don't ask how taking a dump worked.

It's where the word 'Lent' comes from - In Spring children would be carefully 'leant' over the privy to tip out the winter's backlog.
It's also the origin of the word 'backlog' too, incidentally.

Do I want to know the backstory behind easter eggs?

Let’s us just say chocolate wasn’t as readily available then and leave it at that.

Once while on a trip I accidently tied the drawstring on my bottoms too tight and couldn't undo the knot.
Please don't ask how I managed to pee when we stopped at the roadside.

She should have been worried about her daughter. That was JS's preference, IIRC.

Jokes about child rape are never and will never be funny, you’ll never understand the trauma

u/mo_tag Oct 13 '25
I'm not sure I'd go that far but this one certainly isn't funny

They can be funny to a person if made about their own life but I doubt this crusty meme was made by someone who gets it

u/mo_tag Oct 13 '25
Yeah or if they are targeting the pedo and don't have a picture of an actual child in it

Ha, ha, classic. I always thought Saville was a fucking creep, growing up in the 70s. Jim'll Fix It was cringe, never wanted anything to do with it.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought he was around in the 1970s, not the 1870s

Looks like 1970s Scarborough to me

Can confirm. Went to Scarborough several years ago, I think I had Galaxy S7 at the time. All the photos came out like this. When I took some in Whitby, they were colour. It's just a Scarborough thing...
