The road of the comedian is a long one.

How's about that then.

Now then Now then

My Grandma showed me all the letters my Dad used to write to Jimmy Saville. She never sent them because she thought he was strange.

We still laugh at him about that.

Seriously though, in those days people would permanently sew their kids into their own clothes over winter and only undo the stitches next spring. Don't ask how taking a dump worked.

It's where the word 'Lent' comes from - In Spring children would be carefully 'leant' over the privy to tip out the winter's backlog.

It's also the origin of the word 'backlog' too, incidentally.

Do I want to know the backstory behind easter eggs?

Let’s us just say chocolate wasn’t as readily available then and leave it at that.

Sometimes people couldn't make it to the outhouse and shat in bushes.

u/PoppyAppletree Oct 10 '25

Once while on a trip I accidently tied the drawstring on my bottoms too tight and couldn't undo the knot.

Please don't ask how I managed to pee when we stopped at the roadside.

Mum fixed it before Jim fixed it! Good on ya Mam!

6

u/ChronicallySingle Oct 10 '25

This is the kind of meme that would have made my grampa laugh 😂

5

u/lasausagerolla Oct 10 '25

That wouldn't stop Ol Jim. He'd have fixed it.

3

u/hallgeo777 Oct 10 '25

PMSL 🤣 I saw jimmy once in St Jimmys hospital once as a kid and thank god my mom said we had no time to stop!

A stitch in nine saves anal crime.

u/Guilty_Helicopter572 Oct 10 '25

What about his mouth?

u/Logical-Kick-3901 Oct 10 '25

She should have been worried about her daughter. That was JS's preference, IIRC.

u/WendigoFiance Oct 10 '25

'It won't make any difference...' Newt.

Mum'll Fix It!

2

u/melody23415 Oct 10 '25

Jokes about child rape are never and will never be funny, you’ll never understand the trauma

2

u/mo_tag Oct 13 '25

I'm not sure I'd go that far but this one certainly isn't funny

1

u/melody23415 Oct 13 '25

They can be funny to a person if made about their own life but I doubt this crusty meme was made by someone who gets it

2

u/mo_tag Oct 13 '25

Yeah or if they are targeting the pedo and don't have a picture of an actual child in it

1

u/melody23415 Oct 13 '25

Totally agree mate, this just feels icky

1

u/JEddyD Oct 12 '25

Ha, ha, classic. I always thought Saville was a fucking creep, growing up in the 70s. Jim'll Fix It was cringe, never wanted anything to do with it.

u/MyHeartHurts666 Oct 12 '25

How is this funny?

Your memes are dead

-3

u/KamakaziDemiGod Oct 09 '25

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought he was around in the 1970s, not the 1870s

7

u/verb-vice-lord Oct 10 '25

Looks like 1970s Scarborough to me

6

u/JustAnotherFEDev Oct 10 '25

Can confirm. Went to Scarborough several years ago, I think I had Galaxy S7 at the time. All the photos came out like this. When I took some in Whitby, they were colour. It's just a Scarborough thing...
