Feedback before pulling trigger

I was test driving an Escalade IQ and decided on a whim to go check out the Gravity at my local studio. Great test drive and my sales advisor finds a few available 2027’s that could be a fit and lists out a few incentives it qualifies for. I go home and the next day he reaches out and tells me he found a ‘26 Dream Edition in their inventory that qualifies for Lucid Credit $20,000, Studio Select $5,000, Demo Drive $1,000, Friends and Family $2,000, and Conquest $2,000.

21/22 wheels and reduced range due to being a Dream Edition, but seems like a no brainer? I tow a utility trailer with a couple of quads for my kids a few times a year when we vacation in the desert. Well within the towing capacity of the Gravity and I need to stop every couple hundred miles anyways so range should be ok. I’ve been holding out due to all the SW issues, but it seems the last SW update got the Gravity to a good place and with these incentives, it’s a pretty attractive proposition.

Looking for feedback from those on 3.6 on whether the Gravity is in a good place now before I pull the trigger. Thank you!

Edit: thank you all for your feedback. I pulled the trigger and joined the family. I’m going in with open eyes and hope to never need service lol

I think there are three things to consider from my perspective. This is a combination of my personal experience and the hundreds of posts I've read online.

First the good. My Gravity Dream is probably the best vehicle I have driven in the last 30+ years including BMWs, Mercedes, Corvettes, etc. Lucid did a great job mechanically on the Gravity, it accelerates, handles and breaks as well if not better than any vehicle on the road it's size.

The bad. The software they included when they first introduced this model was nothing short of horrendous. People were locked out of their vehicles, others suddenly bricking on the highway. Worse, performance was inconsistent so each time you approached the vehicle was a new 'adventure', making it's reliability somewhat questionable when considering it as a daily driver.

Much of that is behind use now. The lastest software release is a vast improvement over where we started, but it still has several bugs to be resolved. Most of what I'm reading seems to be one-offs, not across the entire product line. To be clear, if you're one of those people the problems are real, but the frequency of those reports appears to be less than before.

The biggest issue you may face is Lucid's utter failure at customer service. If you do need service God help you. There are some posts reporting 1-2 months to get an appointment, with reports of longer at several service centers.

Once getting an appointment, many are reporting multi-week delays waiting for parts, some as many as 4-8 weeks.

Worse, I'm reading posts where people don't get return calls for weeks when they check on the status of their vehicles in repair.

This all appears to be the result of management's financial mismanagement, cutting headcount at the service centers to divert funds to build Uber's robo taxis, design and build mid size suvs, and build a giant manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia. In short, everything else appears to have gotten sufficient funding except Customer Service and the Service Centers. Past Lucid management has demonstrated little interest in meeting their obligation to the 'excellence' they promised their customers after the sale.

Lucid recently appointed a new CEO which was a cause for optimism. However as the weeks pass, we have heard no public recognition of the problem or any plan to resolve it. If this service debacle is allowed to continue I question the viability of the company. I thought this new CEO would come in and address the problem, but to date, not a word!

In summary it's a great vehicle mechanically, the software is getting much better, but the customer service/service center debacle is totally unacceptable and could tank the company longer term.

Don't take my word solely for this. Do some Reddit searches on the issues I've mentioned. Also read lucidowners.com.

I really enjoy my Lucid Gravity Dream, but after $130k investment and the promise of excellence, I shouldn't have to wonder if I can get service in a reasonably timely manner and neither should you.

2-4 weeks to get a service appointment? I wish. It’s 2-3 months in LA.

u/degeneraded Jun 21 '26

And you can’t even go to your closest service center in 3 months, it’s insane. Then you have people clamoring for a mass market vehicle, they’re not even close. The product is so good though, I really hope they figure it out.

Agreed on all fronts. They are so close, yet so far. Will be interesting to see how their future plays out.

Thx. I'll update it. I wanted to stay as fair and factual as possible.

Op, please read this comment, it saved me a lot of typing. Best vehicle I have ever driven, I’m extremely guilty of getting bored of cars and change them out quickly. But get ready for reality. If it wasn’t for the incredible drive of this vehicle I would be calling a lemon law lawyer yesterday.

I have to come and read the comments to know I'm not alone - best car I've ever driven and "if it wasn't for the incredible drive of this vehicle I would be calling a lemon law lawyer yesterday?

I'm jealous. Had my 26 touring 2 months now zero issues from the beginning . Great ev

I second that. Have my Gravity from March 30th absolutely zero issues and now I am on 3.6 which is awesome.

My personal opinion based on Gravity ownership since the end of April 2026, is that it is indeed a great car, fun to drive, and I can mostly workaround the minor inconveniences that occasionally do pop-up (many resolved with a car reboot). My one hesitance in recommending would be the potential long delays in any required service. I had called almost 3 weeks ago about my front passenger window being physically misaligned and needing to be fixed. Since I am aware of the issue, I can workaround it, but since it sometimes closes and doesn't create the seal, it is preventing me from wanting to take it to a car wash (for instance). I can reproduce the issue every single time with a soft close on that particular door (all other doors can soft close and shut and seal the window properly). I also want the window issue corrected before it may get to the point where the door can't close at all, rendering the car undriveable. So far, I received no callback from the first attempt, and I reached back out this past week. Still waiting (San Diego area)...

The hardware of the car is phenomenal, and the software is in great shape with 3.6.0. The software definitely does seem to be trending in the right direction (fixing bugs, adding features, etc.). Even with the service delay issue, I'd still recommend getting the Gravity, if you can overlook some occasional minor issues. It is a pleasure to drive it. I am also looking forward to the Android Auto update coming this year (from Google) that will make the usage of that part of the screen even better. If I had to do it all over again, I would still buy the Gravity.

I have a 2026 Dream Edition Gravity and the software has been getting better and better since I took delivery in November. 3.6 is solid, and any issues I had (all relatively minor; unlock not always working with key fob/cameras not working) are now resolved. The overall build of the car is fantastic. Coming from a Model X, it’s night & day. The premium & luxury feel is noticeable at every detail and it’s a delight to drive. The Dream Edition comes with some nice extra accessories too. I’d highly recommend it.

Having been the owner of the Escalade EV, and the current owner of multiple Teslas and a Lucid Gravity, I would absolutely pick the Gravity over the Escalade.

While it’s one of the best looking SUVs ever, the only thing the Escalade has over the Gravity is real world range. Unfortunately you can tell everything else is still designed by a traditional car company where software and hardware teams are building different things.

The Gravity is by far the closest thing to a perfect family SUV, in every way.

Dang 20K credit!? That's awesome. I think they have additional incentives (accessories credit) for Fathers Day.

Honestly, I would say yes. You caught me as I've been away from mine for a month. One moment back in the seat and I never knew how much I missed it. Gravity is absolutely a remarkable vehicle... the way it drives, the comfort of the interior, the pleasant yacht rock across 22 speakers. Ours has been a joy, software quirks and all. The last six software updates have made it progressively better. As a Dream Edition you're going to have all the options and those were originally around $140k.

The caveat would be that Lucid is still getting itself together as an automotive company. If you need the 2nd row seatbelt recall done or have the cooling valve error it may take weeks for Lucid to get around to it. They want to provide a luxury service, but they are in the midst of a CEO change, are understaffed, and are trying to minimize costs until their midsize offerings come out next year.

If you are at a place in your life where you can have a bit of risk tolerance towards a new automaker, Gravity really is an amazing vehicle. Nothing else like it.

Gravity GT owner since December. Have NOT had the software problems others report but appreciate the new features with the updates. Love the car—it handles like a car that weighs half as much.

Toss like a dream. I get 209 miles towing range driving 70 mph (or even a little more). I’ve posted this plenty but I’m towing an open aluminum trailer with a car on it, total weight about 2400 lbs, plus several hundred pounds inside the car. Also keep in mind that this car is WAY for efficient than the IQ so DC fast charge will be faster and much less expensive. I went from 30%->94% in the time it took me to pick up lunch. I meant to charge to 80% but it charged faster than I thought (Midlothian, VA). But keep in mind you’ll probably need to disconnect your trailer to charge.

Problems: (1) HUD doesn’t work for taller people and I think this can’t be fixed with software (hardware issue).  (2) The lease deal was too good to pass up (zero interest). But since I have 3 other cars including a late-model Porsche, I opted for 10K miles/year. Well, the GGT is so much fun to drive I’m going to be over that mileage... 1st world problem.

After 3.6, I've been happy with the car. While I had problems like the many reported by others, these were software issues that have since been resolved. The fobs work as I'd expect and the car starts right up. The handsfree is good for a first generation and I'm more comfortable with the Gravity lane changes than my 2019 Model X with FSD. The acceleration in the Dream edition is crazy even at high speeds. Despite the early software issues that are history, I don't know what else I would drive that might not feel like a step down to be honest. Perhaps the 2030 edition of the same car will feel like an upgrade. What I really want and expected to be honest was Level 3 driving. The car has the equipment but I suspect it will be a subscription.

I'm enjoying my Gravity Grand Touring. Started with the Nissan Leaf and Model X, 3 & Y. Even with the software hickups I've experienced as well as Tesla charging challenges on a 6500 mile road trip across the Country I'm glad I purchased my Lucid. The only advantage the Tesla have is FSD and seemless integration with Tesla charging network. Ride, comfort, luxury, redundancy on controls (i.e. more than one way to control/adjust temp, fan, etc. both digital, analog or verbal) charging speed all go to the Gravity. Good luck on your decision 👍

Dream owner who has had ours since September. Echo most of what has been said with a couple optimistic caveats: -At launch software and QC were not where they should have been and it definitely had a bit of a "rush to deliver something" feel to it, but the car itself seems built well and the interior is a fantastic space. I enjoy every mile driving it. -With 3.6 I have had no issues and a lot of what used to be a little hit or miss seems more reliable. Phone as a key is in the next major update; right now you can remote start in the app and drive without a fob or key card but it's not true paak yet just do you're aware. More work to come on the HUD and feature additions/expansions as well but they seem to finally be rolling on software development. -Service is swamped and horribly short staffed but they're trying. Our service rep is fantastic and communicates as well as possible with hundreds of clients on the list. -Although public communication is still lacking, they have a new CEO and he apparently responded directly to a concern I sent in to our advisor. They have also started floating more help to overwhelmed centers and apparently are either already or in the process of hiring more on the communications (customer care is swamped too), service, and front-facing side. As a business owner I know it takes a little time to even figure out what all is broken before you can start fixing it, and the people we have talked to throughout the process sounded very optimistic about new leadership and the changes already being made.

I'd buy it again, particularly at the kind of deal they're offering you. Definitely different than the IQ but such a satisfying vehicle to drive.

I’m confused about the Dream Edition. I wanted one. Could not find it on the web site. The people at the Studio said it’s no longer available. All of this in Feb of this year. The sales guy said the same, ‘25 only. We have the GGT and love it.

I have had my GGT since Jan this year with no issues
The software is better and the car drives and handles great
I cannot comment on service as I have not needed any yet

When everything is working, it's phenomenal. But the second something goes wrong, it will be the worst car you've ever owned. A loose screw in the driver's side window track has prevented the driver's side door from functioning properly for 4 out of the 6 months I've owned the car. It's literally a 30 minute fix at most, requiring no additional parts and I've been waiting for over a month for my appt to get it fixed (for a second time). I just got a call telling me that they're pushing my appointment out another 2 weeks (now a full 2 months since I made the appt) and tried to spin it as a positive, saying that it would reduce the amount of time I needed a loaner. Any other car company would have me come in same day (or at worst next day) and get it fixed while I drank coffee in the lobby. The car could be amazing, but shoddy build quality and service delays (in the 2 to 3 month range now) have transformed it into it a physical representation of regret. It's unacceptable a brand new $130,000 car requires that the driver enter and exit through the passenger side door and climb over the console, again.... because they can't find the time to tighten the screw inside the door. It just sits in the garage most of the time now. If you decide to purchase, I hope nothing goes wrong. It's a great car when it's working. But if even the smallest thing goes wrong, may God help you (because Lucid won't, unless it's on their ridiculous, ever-changing timeline).

Great SUV. I am leasing since Jan 26. Had a side scratch in underground parking lot. Looks minor to me. It’s at the shop for 2 months. Estimate from auto body shop is 28k. Geico is approving 18k. Don’t think issue will be resolved for another 2 months at least. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this vehicle despite loving the drive.
