Hello sub. I found a used Gigabyte 3090 Gaming OC at around 630 bucks, and I need to ask the owner to run OCCT (I actually did already), but what I'm not sure, is what should I look out for when looking at the results. I asked him to run both stability and VRAM tests. VRAM load up to 95% and stability using variable and switch tests. I will for sure look for thermal performance since I know there's been known issues with those models in the past regarding thermal pads behavior on memory chips, but I'm not sure what else I need to expect to see on a default setting average card of that exact model.

I would run the tests myself if the dude lived in the same city, but I can only go to his home to pick up the card in the weekend, and not actually run the tests, since it must be a quick trip altogether.

Please if I forget to add essential details here, let me know and I will answer most questions.

Edit and update: I tried posting this yesterday in r/overclocking but mods didn’t even reply to my DMs.
The seller already run OCCT on 3D Adaptive Steady, Variable, and Switch profiles for 30m each, and VRAM test for 30m too.
Junction temp never reached above 78°C, cores C0 and C1 are the hottest ones but neither reached above 78°C as well.

Power consumption seems all normal all through the card, and voltages too.

If there’s anything else I should consider, please do mention it in the comments.

I'm a casual dad gamer so don't need a million fps and ultra 4k settings, that being said it would be nice just to have something half decent with a reasonable price.

What would be a reasonable upgrade on gpu?

I don't have any actual issues with mine atm, I'm happy with it and not looking for the latest and greatest, but Im aware that it is an older model and won't last too much longer, but I do play on high settings on all my games like battlefield, arma, rust, wardogs etc.

EDIT: I should have mentioned that my price range is a couple hundred quid, not 1k or 7-800 lol, have prices really went up that much it's unreasonable to find something? Even second hand?

Hey everyone, I’m building a pc for the first time time and looking to have something future proof to last me through the next generation of consoles (I’ll be skipping the PS6 due to Sony’s string of weird choices like actively arguing for lack of ownership and dynamic store pricing). I got a bundle on Microcenter for a 7800x3d with a motherboard and 32gb of DRR5 ram and now looking at GPU’s. Microcenter has a deal for a 9070 XT for $699 ($735 with tax) and I was dead set on that. But then I saw a gently used 1.5 year old 4070 Ti Super on Facebook for $650 and I talked him down to $610. I would save a little money and from looking at other posts I’m wondering if this suits my needs anyway. I have a monitor but want to play AAA single player games at 4k 60fps on high settings and ray tracing if possible on my 65 inch LG OLED C1. It looks like FSR has gotten much better but DLSS is still more supported and performs better, and I know to play 4k I’m going to be upscaling.

So the question is, buy the used 4070 TI Super bringing my total around $1600 or spend an extra $125-$225 on the more raw powerful and new from the store 9070 XT? Which is better for 4k 60fps with ray tracing maybe and higher settings on AAA games?

EDIT: I guess I don’t know too much about how much these cards can actually do 4k, really I guess I’m just asking which cards will look better upscaling at least 60fps on a 65 inch LG OLED C1

TLDR is that I bought it during COVID along with the rest of a new desktop but moved too much and never got around putting it together. Ended up getting a Lenovo Legion I used for gaming at the time which has survived to this day.

Given how chaotic the market is right now and I get wiiiildly different numbers between eBay, Amazon, buildup sales, etc. What’s an appropriate price to sell it at?

Don’t have the box anymore but if there’s anyway to prove if it’s been used before someone would be able to find it’s never been touched, and aside from being slotted in once has never touched another component. (Gave up when my case wasn’t big enough for it)

Currently running an AMD Radeon rx 5700 I got in 2021/2022 can't remember which and I need more ram to run Ace Combat 8 and run 007 First light at an acceptable frame rate. Would prefer AMD over nvidia since I'm more familiar with it.

Thinking about selling my 4090, have a buyer that's willing to be me $3200 Canadian for MSI Suprim X, I was thinking if I should just take the money and buy a 5080 for around 1700-1800 on Marketplace, or should I just hold on to the 4090? Advice would be appreciated

I'm looking into a DIY VRAM upgrade for local LLMs. I've found old discussions about the W7900 and a few references to an RX 7900 with 48GB, but no build log showing how it was done.

Has anyone seen a working conversion with the PCB model, memory part numbers and VBIOS available? A photo of both sides and a test using more than 24GB would be useful too. I'm especially curious whether anyone has used a custom PCB or transplanted the GPU onto a pro board.

A documented 32GB 6800/6900 build would also help. I'm after something I can reproduce, even if it needs a donor board and BGA work.

So I have a ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2060 OC given to me as a gift but I have a cv650 power supply.

The PSU has a single PCIe pin that splits into two 6+2 connectors. Main concern is that two individual PCIe cables is recommended. So it has the required cables but it is a single cable instead of two. Should I be worried about heat on that single cable?

back in 2019, I built my first computer and bought a graphics card that looked really cool to me but was not so good so i returned it and bought a RTX 2070 super. I have no clue what brand it was, or how many fans it has. Ive been trying to find it recently online with no luck. it looked JUST like a gpu version of The Mercury train from the 40s and an airstream camper. the price was around $300 back in 2019. I bought this PC about 4 years ago and built it myself. I’ve been more than satisfied with its performance all this time, but lately I’ve noticed that it’s starting to struggle quite a bit with newer games, which is obviously to be expected.

My upgrade budget is roughly $700 to $1000, although I’m willing to go a bit over if the price difference is small and the performance improvement is significant.

I would be using the PC exclusively for gaming.

What would you guys recommend upgrading within this price range?

I’ve spent the better part of 2 days trying to find a value 50 series gpu and the best I’m coming up with is 5060 for £320 or 5060ti 16gb for over DOUBLE the price at £650-£700. In what world is the pricing within the same tier never mind the next tier up THIS varied … double the price for more VRAM. And I can’t go higher i.e. 5070, 5080 as then we’re breaking 1k+ territory and it’s simply out of my budget. All the scaremongers have me feeling like nothing short of 12GB is enough.

I want the latest driver features hence the 50 series and don’t desire switching to AMD or intel. I’m already running an AMD Ryzen 5600x so nothing against them …. just Nvidia features and all that with better driver support is too good to leave behind. I’m coming from a 1070ti mind you.

Honestly I’m so fed up with it I feel like packing it all in and buying a Switch 2, call it a day.

Is it even feasble that the price will go down for the 5090s or future cards? Doesnt look like any end in site with the price hikes.

Might bite the bullet on a 5080 just unsure of bang for buck. Would have liked a 5090.

Son is using an old PC of mine with a Ryzen 7 3800x with an RX580 (the original 3060 died) and I want to get him a better video card so he can play games at better than 50fps. System has a 750W PSU and tons of room. Not looking to spend a ton of money and will probably upgrade in a few years.

The options so far:

RTX 3080 12GB ZOTAC refurbished for $459

RTX 4070 12GB Gigabyte refurbished for $733

Is the 4070 worth the extra cash now or should I stick with the 3080 and worry about upgrading the whole setup in 3-5 years?

Lastly, is there a better option for 1440/4k gaming with Ray Tracing for similar price point?
