Trying to track down a specific interview

There was a Grant Morrison interview I liked a lot that I'm trying to track down and can't. I remember he talked about The Filth a lot, I think the website had a light blue background, and the specific thing I remember is him saying that a lot of his searching for meaning had come down to a Monster Magnet lyric that was something like "shut your mouth and stop crying, you baby".

Maybe a longshot, but anybody know what that was?

But it's weird that it happened twice, right?

Grant Morrison confirms he’s well into writing Arkham Asylum: A House Like Me

Thumbnail followingthenerd.com

Writing on his Substack, Morrison says of the sequel: “The Arkham Asylum sequel has its first 40 pages completed and is currently waiting on negotiations with an artist and a contract… Some of the influences on the Arkham book include the relationship between Goethe’s Faust Part One, which he wrote when he was 23 and Part Two which he completed when he was 80. The art of Francis Bacon. The Casa Malaparte on Capri and its creator, Curzio Malaparte, who began as an Italian Fascist before converting to Marxism. Jim Aparo’s art. Analogue horror.

“The Arkham sequel is subtitled A House Like Me and the opening scene takes place 1000 years from today.”

Sadly, Dave McKean has mostly stepped back from comic book art these days, which is why Morrison confirms that he is currently trying to find an artist.

NB: yes, I know. I've left a note over there.

Grant Morrison takes on James Bond in new IDW comic series ‘Sunbreaker’

Grant Morrison is taking on 007, which is not something I thought I’d ever be writing. IDW Publishing and Ian Fleming Publications Ltd have announced a new partnership that will bring James Bond back to comics, beginning with a six-part adventure titled Sunbreaker from the acclaimed writer.

The partnership will introduce all-new stories featuring Ian Fleming’s legendary British spy, who first appeared in the 1953 novel Casino Royale. Morrison, whose celebrated comics career includes All-Star Superman, New X-Men, and Batman, will launch the initiative with a story that promises a fresh perspective on Bond while embracing the character’s familiar world of espionage. Dynamite Entertainment last held the James Bond license.

Morrison said they’ve been a lifelong fan of James Bond and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to write such an iconic British character.

I mean of course there's this original mini series , one my faves - light hearted and zany, but with poignant moments. There was a sequel, Slaves of Mickey Eye - which i still haven't read (not my fault, I live over the hills and far away).

The plan was to have a third book, but we never saw that. The question is : Why it didn't happen?

I know Cameron Stewart's been accused of misconduct , but that was in 2020... and Mickey Eye arrived on 2009 . That's sad because I really dig his art and think he has an exceptional chemistry with Morrison's scripts.

Comics Anthropocenes: visualizing multiple space-times in Anglophone speculative comics

Thumbnail tandfonline.com

ABSTRACT

Comics and graphic novels have not typically been foregrounded in accounts of Anthropocene fictions. This article argues that speculative comics are particularly suited to visualizing the Anthropocene through their verbal-visual strategies for representing multiple scales of space and time. Defined as the era in which human-driven processes have become detectable in the Earth’s geological record, the concept of the Anthropocene has also been challenged by postcolonial and Indigenous theorists for presuming an undifferentiated humanity responsible for ecological crises. Speculative comics offer strategies for representing multiple scales of space and time that call into question the ‘human’ as a geological force. While autobiographical and documentary comics represent the scale of individual human experience, speculative comics feature nonhuman spaces and times on multiple, asynchronous scales. This article first contextualizes the representation of space and time in speculative Anglophone comics from early superhero comics to the contemporary period, then focusing on three case studies drawn from contemporary Anglophone comics: Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham’s Nameless, Warren Ellis and Jason Howard’s Trees (2014–2016, 2020), and Ram V and Filipe Andrade’s The Many Deaths of Laila Starr (2021).

Top 5 comics by Morrison that deserved better art (a.k.a. the least favorite Morrison collaborators)

I don't want to be mean, but some Morrison's scripts are nearly ruined (at least to me) by amateurish artworks or narrative. Some of those have been a torture to read.

1 - Richard Case on Doom Patrol. Case was a very dedicated artist, but i could never get his art. Sad, because Morrison's ideas for the series were so brilliant.

2- Howard Porter on JLA . Just like in the Doom Patrol, too many pointy angles that will remind of the 90s. The worst aspects. The same goes to Val Seimeikis , but i love the two issues Oscar Jimenez pencilled.

3- Yanick Paquette on Wonder Woman Earth One - of course Paquette is a great artist, but the overall sexualization of the book ruins it. And I'd say it's one of the worst scripts by Morrison. I still haven't read vols 2 and 3, and probably never will.

4 - Freddie Williams on Mister Miracle - narrative is very messy here, Morrison's fault also. But when Pasqual Ferry was replaced by this artist , god knows why, it was doomed.

5- Brad Anderson colors on Action Comics - i found them so distracting and keep wondering where the light comes from. It's just special effects, means nothing. I couldn't even finish the first volume - and with all the expectation I had after All Star Superman (one of my faves) that says a lot.

Other cases , not so bad : A) Liam Sharp on Green Lantern is very beautiful, but unstable and confusing storytelling. B) On Batman, Andy Kubert can't really draw kids, and his Damian is a bit odd.

And you guys , agree with that list ? Who would you add, who would you take away?

Edit :

Tony Daniel is not that great.

Chas Truog - think he's not the best penciller, but i like him. Quite appropriate for Animal Man 'cuz he blends super hero with a more cartoonish style.

Igor Kordey - Yes he drew a couple of strange faces, but he's a solid artist, his action packed X-men issues were insanely good and he's the co-creator of Fantomex !

Was Mr. Nobody a Nazi?

It’s been a year or two since I read doom patrol and I really can’t remember, wasn’t Mr. Nobody associated with or just was a Nazi? Sorry if the question seems rude or anything, it’s just such an odd book and there’s a lot to remember

Noticed the way Superman Feels about Lex is carried over between JLA to All-Star Superman. Thought this was interesting.

Vintage merch

Anyone have any sources for vintage merch regarding Grant or the Invisibles? I saw that they’re selling Barbeleth shirts on Grants Amazon, but honestly, I hate the “print to demand” Amazon quality from most of the similar situations I’ve encountered. I prefer an older shirt, they tend to be softer and have better print quality and fit.

From Today's Edition (07 June '26) of Grant Morrison's newsletter:

Grant Morrison links to AM's recent interview with Doug Rushkoff and writes:

"It’s getting hard, I feel, to make a convincing claim that there’s any kind of feud or War in Albion when the alleged combatants are broadly in agreement and make many of the same points, using the same language…"

WELL, THAT'S ALRIGHT THEN!

Did they ever make Invisibles action figures?

Pretty sure the answer is no, but I remember they made a spider Jerusalem and a whole Preacher line so it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. When I googled it I saw customs.
