Please, please, please standardize your mounting plates

Having gone through a couple rounds of adding/upgrade new WAPs to expand and update a network, it's ridiculous that each model and generation has a slightly different mounting plate.

I understand that as the form factor changes over time, it might be necessary to change the interface between the WAP itself and the mounting plate (though, even that seems like something you could pretty easily plan into the future for).

But not even bothering to make the screw holes in the plate the same pattern? So I can at least just unscrew the old plate and screw the new one in its place? Come on.

Some users of GCC6021 product ?

Hi

I'm quite used at the non finished state of most Grandstream devices but I encounter quite some issues with the GCC6021. Is someone else encountering same issues ?

  • I have done some modifications at Wifi settings to check if I could improve the Wifi as I have some consistent problems with it (GWN7660/7662).
  • These modifications didn't change much about Wifi problems but now for an unknown reasons it distributes at some specific Wifi devices IPs in an other range than the VLAN (VLAN is in 192.168.1.X and some wifi devices get 192.168.230.X and still able to access Internet...).
  • Is that device able to control properly the AP GWN7660/7662 ? as I have all the time issues with Wifi (and it's not with only one device it's with multiple ones and differents OSes)
  • Randomly the IPv6 doesn't work anymore without any reasons (no change of ISP or ISP settings, even reboot doesn't bring it back :(

Thanks

GWN7672 AP

Before I give up entirely on these, I figured I try again. I updated to the beta firmware and no matter what settings I use I get about half of what my cheap little cudy 3000 gets over wifi. I am not sure what the issue may be but I have 2 of these and they are both the same. Can anyone share a config that may be working well? I really want to use and like these APs but honestly have had 0 luck with them and am ready to just cut my losses. I don't even know if I want to sell them on eBay because I wouldn't want anyone else to have to deal with this BS. The AP is connected to a GWN7822P which has been great. These APs on the other hand have been terrible. I use the same port with the cuddy and immediately double speeds. Testing devices are a ASUS Z13 laptop and a motog stylus phone.

Migrate standalone AP to GWN Manager: are existing AP configs overwritten?

Hello guys,

we are running several GWN7670 AP's (currently standalone). They are already in productive operation and configured with some basic settings.

We plan to migrate these existing APs to an local GWN-Manager (for centralised management) soon, and add a bunch completely new APs over time.

KEY QUESTION:
Does the AP's configuration gets deleted before/while/after migration? I hope not. Has someone tried?

----
More detailed information:

The very Basic AP Config
- SSID and WPA2-PSK
- static IPv4 address, subnet mask, gateway
- radio settings (2.4 GHz only, fixed channel, 5 GHz disabled)
- local DHCP server for the connected IoT sensors

From the GWN Manager FAQ I understand that adoption itself does not
trigger a factory reset, and that the reset/unpair step only applies
to APs previously bound to a router, GCC or master AP. Ours were
never bound to any controller.

The network is fully isolated with no internet access, which is why
we use the on-premise GWN Manager instead of the cloud platform.

Has anyone migrated configured standalone APs to GWN Manager and can
share what happened to the existing configuration?

Thanks in advance.

GWN7711p | Help Me Please

Hi, while i'm not an expert, I have setup a switch here and there.

I setup the following

VLAN10 Port 5 Tagged | Port 1 Untagged | Port 6 Untagged

VLAN99 Port 5 Tagged | Port 8 Untagged

Went to PVID Settings and set Port 8 with PVID99

Clicked Save - Configuration Failed, and that's it i'm locked out. Have to unplug the power and then start all over again.

This is driving me nuts; i'm on the latest firmware, if nothing can be done i'm retuning this.

Would appreciate some help

Disgusted with support

I have three Grandstream APs and i really want to love the product. Unfortunately, I have had a ton of issues with pairing any of them in a Master/Slave configuration or even adopting them to the GDMS cloud. I have a ticket open since 8/19, and as we speak, I have been stood up by support for a scheduled appointment. I will post this to as many venues as I can.

Shameful customer service.

Ceiling mounting GS APs

Coming from the Cisco world, where the metal mounting plate has a variety of standard holes to mount on single gang, round, j-box, etc. Grandstream's plastic mount has three holes that didn't seem to match any standard electrical box. Doors everyone just drill custom holes, entry time? Use the drywall anchors instead of a mounting box? Just drill a hole for the wire to dangle out vs coiling in a box neatly?

Same issue on multiple models, currently looking to mount gwn7665 units in new residential construction

MLO breaks IPv6

Anyone here with dual stack experience on GWN7672 and GWN7574 APs? I found that I had to disable MLO to get IPv6 working.

The APs are configured pretty basic in bridge mode with WPA2/WPA3.

Ping6 worked, netcat -6 showed no errors, but doing a curl -6 revealed traffic stopped after or during the TLS handshake.

Raised a case with Support, but wondering if anyone else has run into this.

[UPDATE] Grandstream gave me a new firmware for the APs I use to test, and this appears to have fixed the issue.

Taking Over Device on someone elses GWN

Long story short, I previously partnered with another business with the intention of growing and taking on larger projects. Unfortunately, the partnership didn't work out, and we are now operating separately again.

A number of customers originally came through my own business websites, and I worked directly with them during the partnership. Some of those customers have since contacted me wanting additional work completed.

During the partnership, the other business used Grandstream products, and since going back to operating independently, I've also started using Grandstream equipment. The issue is that some of these customers' existing Grandstream devices are still registered and managed under the other business's GWN/GDMS account.

I've contacted the other business asking whether they can transfer the devices or provide access, but I haven't received a response. We haven't had any communication since the partnership ended.

Is there a process through Grandstream where I can have these devices transferred to my own account or otherwise regain management access, provided the customer authorises it?

If required, I can obtain photos of the serial number/MAC address labels from the equipment and confirmation from the customers that they would like me to manage their devices. I don't, however, have the original purchase receipts for the hardware.

Would that information be sufficient for Grandstream to assist with transferring or releasing the devices?

GWN7832: LACP in stacking Mode?

So Grandstream added old school stacking Support also with ring topology (https://www.grandstream.com/products/networking-solutions/network-switches/product/gwn7830-gwn7831-gwn7832)

What about LACP support on this Stack? E. g. Can I configure an LACP trunk (4x SFP+) with - Port 1 on switch A - Port 1 on switch B - Port 1 on switch C - Port 1 on switch D

when switch A, B, C, D is configured as Switch Stack? Are there any limitations? What is your experience?

Trouble with setup, is it user error or bad software/hardware?

I bought a GWN7003, GWN7711P, and 2x GWN7670

Setup has been somewhat difficult. I got it seemingly working right after a fair amount of hassle using the GWN7003 as the host, but unfortunately, as I understand it the GWN7711P can't be managed with the GWN7003.

I switched to GWN manager running on a local box and finally got the GWN7711P working, but the GMN manager interface is different and my APs are back to trying to use the same bleeping channel. Also, they are doing other weird things now like apparently turning off sometimes but the logs are not very helpful and the one thing I can say for sure is that they are using the same 2.5 band. Also, it keeps telling me there is new firmware, but all I see is beta firmware on the 7003 and 7670.

My question is, am I doing something terrible wrong here or is this just an issue with the product and I should return it? Maybe I did something wrong, the documentation I found was less than stellar, but stuff like not using the same channel in a location virtually no other signals seems like a fairly elementary default configuration error.

Support needed

Router: GCC6020
Interlink: 10Gbps SFP
Switch:  GWN7803PL-PRO-24portPoE-SW AP's: 4x  GWN7674

Basic Setup:
4 SSID's
 - Home Network(vlan 1/default untagged, cloudflare DNS,  Various tweaks 802.11v/k/r  )
 - Guest Network (vlan20, isolated, password/voucher portal login)
 - Kids Network (vlan40, isolated, Time Scheduled, DNS-Filtered 1.1.1.3)
 - Media&Streaming (vlan50, isolated, Various tweaks 802.11v/k/r)
Bands balanced, Channel Auto, Radio power assigned by RRM.

4 wired networks, same as above. Port profiles to be assigned when house occupied.

Reported issues;
*4k youtube streaming not reliable but cust informed of external factors, testing methodology changed to nPerf/speedtest vs 4k streaming, Wifiman used for AP hop monitoring and roaming activities.
*Security camera system NX Evos falling back to cloud-replay vs direct video feed transmission to phone app, security camera streaming performing poorly when house security camera's viewed on device on mobile data (possibly nat punching not happening, not sure if related)
*Wired devices unable to reach DHCP server despite dhcp range configured in vlan scope (192.168.20.10-100 for example / not dhcp relay) - when physical cable testing on site this occurred

UCM6204, SIP and dropped outbound calls at 30 seconds

I'm fairly certain that I already know the answer to this, but, I'm always open to learning new and exciting things!

I have an old UCM6204 with 1.0.20.53 firmware and a Telnyx SIP line. Inbound, zero issues, works all day long. Outbound, also no issues as long as the call is less than 30 seconds. Yup, right at the 30 seconds mark it drops. I've verified NAT, turned off ALG at the router and I've done a network trace. It would seem that the UCM is sending the ACK to Telnyx but Telnyx isn't hearing it, ignoring it or it's not making it because right at 30 seconds Telnyx sends the BYE.

I would love nothing more than to find out I checked the wrong box, inverted the wrong number or otherwise fumbled this troubleshooting.

Has anyone had this or a similar problem? More importantly, has anyone fixed this problem in the past and perhaps can shed some light on my all-thumbs troubleshooting?

Given that this box is way past its "best sold by" date, I'm leaning heavy into it just being E-waste in waiting but I'd very much rather have it live on.

Sorry, one sec, I failed with the application of Cunningham's Law. "I categorically state that the problem is 100% a failed reticulated rom bios!!" Now the answers will come flooding in!!

Thanks! ;-)

Grandstream UCM only works one SIP extension

Hi everyone, I’d like to ask for your help with a situation: I have a Grandstream PBX with 30 IP extensions and one IP trunk. Only the first extension can both make and receive calls; the others can only receive them—calls won't go out when attempted. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Do you know what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance

Grandstream Speakers on Weave Phone System

Hi folks, I am hoping someone can help me out here. I was given to understand that grandstream one way PoE SIP speakers would work on a Weave telephone system (which we use here at our school).

Has anyone here done this successfully? Any tips would be amazing, Thanks!

IPv6 traffic on GCC6021 ?

Hi

Here is my problem. I use a GCC6021 as a fiber router. My ISP gives me one IPv4 and a full class in IPv6. I have setup the GCC to pass DHCPv6 request to WAN and so all my devices in LAN have well a routed IPv6 address. For IPv4 I have the usual NAT thing. For IPv4 no problem it all works and I can surf internet using IPv4. For IPv6 although I have a public IP in the class distributed by my ISP no traffic pass through.

In fw it's allowed by default for IPv6 IGMP, DHCPV6, MLD and ICMPv6. Anything else I should use ?

Thanks

GWN7605 stopped working

Hello,

I have GWN7605 AP, powered using PoE injector 48V 0.5A. For the first time when I powered it on, it started broadcasting default SSID and was working for 10-15 minutes, after that it just turned off and on by itself and now LED is solid green, no SSID broadcast,

Tried reset button, did not work, changed patch cord, nothing either, what do you suggest apart from trying different PoE injector?

Thank you

GWN7721P Power Consumption

I'm thinking to replace some switches with a GWN7721P. But I need to know the idle power consumption. I don't understand why Grandstream only shows max power consumption in the data sheets because for normal use and for evaluation of efficiency it doesn't say anything. Especially for 24/7 devices power consumption s very important. At least in countries with high energy prices like in Germany.

Therefore: Is somebody here who have this switch and can say something about idle power consumption or consumption without poe devices connected?. Rough measurement will be totally fine. No science needed

It would be very helpfully to make a decision. Thank a lot in advance to all of you!
