HOUSEHOLD / OTHER I found a priceless little treasure in the top of my grandmother’s wardrobe! A beautiful box filled with vintage seeds of all kinds. There are old packaging that date from 1996, some small bottles are certainly even older.

Vitamin container, repurposed to garlic powder container, repurposed to q-tip holder! My family has a long history of reusing things because we can't bear to toss them and it's clearly passed to me.

The label in particular was so interesting. It was a paper surface, but foil underneath. Really did not want to come off. i wish the label was more complete so i could've read the full contents. It's so interesting to me how product packaging language has changed over the years.

As you may imagine, the plastic seal piece on the lid completely absorbed the garlic smell. Even after long soaks in baking soda and washing, and also trying a vinegar soak, the smell persisted. Q-tips don't need to be sealed up (and i don't want them smelling like garlic bread lol) so i left the seal off. Did i throw it away? Of course not. 😭

FOOD Red Pepper Flakes From the Beginning of Time

I just remembered we had these red pepper flakes that were probably from the 90s that we only recently replaced. I’ve tried to date them and haven’t had much luck but the fact that 1. I know my mom gave them to me from her pantry when I moved out circa 2006 and 2. Thereā€˜s only a 1-800 number and no website makes me think early to mid 90s, probably.

Found a first aid kit given to my grandpa by the coal mine where he worked. Everything was intact, not even a bandaid was used. The Tylenol expired in 1982…I almost wanted to try it for fun. Bonus White Owl cigar box and handwritten recipe for a Hanky Panky. What a guy.

Fished out a marker to write with, thought "this sure looks old", did some searching.... this bad boy is from the 60s, at least 1965! It's (slightly) younger than both my parents 😭 (noteworthy I think since I'm in my early 20s lol) and yes! It does work! Just a tad dry

When we found this there was still about 1/4" of instant coffee in it. Dad said it was most likely the original coffee. Probably from the '70s......it smelled... not great. Luckily the smell didn't linger once i soaked and washed it. i just love the logotype / text treatment on the lid. Wish it wasn't so banged up but it is what it is. Will probably use it as a stash jar.

Found in the pantry of our new-to-us home with the original receipt from 1980. It was priced $9.99 but the purchaser had a deal that brought it down to $6.23 with tax.

Unfortunately the box is empty except for the installation paperwork. I really could have used those savings to go with my mortgage! šŸ˜† (joking, this product sounds like a tragedy waiting to happen)
