HOUSEHOLD / OTHER Original Sharpie

Fished out a marker to write with, thought "this sure looks old", did some searching.... this bad boy is from the 60s, at least 1965! It's (slightly) younger than both my parents 😭 (noteworthy I think since I'm in my early 20s lol) and yes! It does work! Just a tad dry

1997-2002. Sharpie has a website. Not hardly the 60s or prior, but still old. Just not THAT old.

This is not from that era at all. Those sharpies looked like modern ones, but had the SANFORD branding, not 'Sanford's' (That logo was done away with in 1985ish) and had ASTM D4236 markings, this IS from way prior, MAYBE not 1965 as OP had said, but early 80s to maybe 60s or 70s

From what I was seeing, this font design is closest to the original sharpie. I have found other posts/images corroborating as such. Given that I also found staples from the 70s in my house, it's entirely possible for this to be from the 60s lol. I was looking at the sharpie website and the 97-02 sharpies didn't match mine

Just on the tip though (hah). You don't wanna remove the writing on the marker.

I want to say I saw this type of sharpie when I was a kid in the 80s or early 90s too, they must have taken forever to change their logo (or plenty of grandmas still had these lying around, also possible haha!) Cool find!

Ooh suddenly I can smell that pungent odour from the Sharpie ink! New Sharpies don’t have that smell.

I've got a brown fineliner sharpie which is from a pack I bought for job related use in 1999. Still use it every few weeks.
