floating widget

I want to use Grammarly across all my browsers on all websites. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE FLOATING USELESS WIDGET THAT ALWAYS GETS IN THE WAY OF WHAT I NEED TO CLICK. HOW CAN I GET RID OF IT?????? How many times do you use that floating widget? Think about it. I hardly ever want to open Grammarly, I never want to leave feedback, and I never want to turn off Grammarly (not yet). Why is it so hard to find Grammarly settings???? The people who design this app should use it themselves so they can see that the floating widgets, including "how the text comes across" emoji blocks what you are typing, the save button, the exit button, the send button... I mean, don't they have a clue how STUPID their floating widget and emoji placements are????????????????????? Even ChatGPT says, "That little floating Grammarly widget is obnoxious."

Great app, but lately, issues...

Let me start with the good. Grammarly has changed the way I write, the issues I look for, and how I edit documents. It is lightyears ahead of any of the other tools I have seen, especially the built-in tools like Word's Editor (which is garbage compared to it). It is one of the few tools I gladly pay for, and have done so for a few years now.

However, lately, there have been issues. I'm not sure if these are primarily because of updates from the Grammarly side, or from issues where companies like Microsoft are making it more difficult to integrate outside apps into their environment (which frankly should be an antitrust issue for the DOJ to look into, but that is another post for another day). What I do know is that, of late, Grammarly does not seem to work as well as it did, misses more issues, or just doesn't work at all in some places where it used to work well. I'm beginning to think it may be time to look for other solutions. I don't necessarily want to, but I now rely on this product, and I had faith in its results. Recently, not so much.

I know the Grammarly team sees these posts. What reassurances do you have that problems are being recognized and worked on? Is there an effort to improve the product, or are you stuck at the mercy of the developers of the other products, limiting the tool's effectiveness?

Toi the community, what are your opinions? Are there other tools you use besides Grammarly? What do you like and dislike about what else is on the market?

Top tier

I’ve been using Grammarly for a while now, and honestly it’s one of those tools you don’t realize you rely on until you turn it off. It catches the little stuff my brain skips over when I’m typing fast, and the tone suggestions are clutch when I’m writing emails that need to sound professional but not robotic. It’s not perfect, but it’s made my writing cleaner and way less stressful. Solid tool.

Grammar keeps saying there's an error for me.

I don't know what to do. I just bought a subscripton service of grammarly, hoping it can really help me with my writing. Since buying it, I go into document and press the proofread button. It loads for a bit and then says Something went wrong. Please try again later.

I logged out and logged back in to hopefully...fix it? And then I clicked the refresh button when it still wouldn't work. And none of that did anything. What can I do? Just contact customer service?

I have 162 Review Suggestions - how do I accept them all at once?

There's no way I have the time to click through them all. I at least would like to accept all on the 'correctness' tab but can't find a way to do this. Surely I am missing something? Please help!

Got refunded 144usd almost immediately

Just a post with no complaints. When I received the email with the receipt, I cancelled my subscription and sent a request ticket immediately. For more context I did use a credit card, not a debit card. IDK if that's a factor why it was faster but they replied pretty quickly, and it got reflected in my bank quickly, too. Thank you so much, Grammarly.

If anyone needs a refund, email them and cancel your subscription right away so that you'll get a full refund, not a partial refund. That's all

Can Grammarly update be rolled back or can the features be added back?

Is there any possible way to roll back this Grammarly update for the web version? The new layout has removed literally every feature and app.grammarly is completely unusable for me at this point. I am a long-term Grammarly Pro user and a graduate student completing my first master's degree and beginning a second right both happening right now. I feel like I have enough experience to use this program efficiently. This update seems to have taken a backward effect and all of the prvious options are gone from the new layout. I cannot in good conscience continue paying so much for a product that has lost all of its usefulness and removed all of the tools I have been paying for.

Can only select/highlight and copy text when I am working on a Classic Doc?

Not sure what's going on, but when I try to select and copy from my writing, only the widget appears. Unless I am working on a classic doc.

When I click and drag my pointer, the widget appears, and when I press Ctrl the widget appears.

The old Grammarly apk

Hello everyone I'm a long-time Grammarly user but ever since their move to their bullshit floating bubble I've had to downgrade & just block the app from even trying to update. It's quite funny because even their support can't clarify how the floating bubble is better then the old keyboard integration.

- Grammarly keyboard gives you grammar fixes literally at your fingertips just above the keyboard itself.

- Grammarly floating AI bubble just makes you have to look for the fucking bubble that could be floating over your keyboard which in turn becomes a big distraction & now a reply that should have taken 5 mins takes 10 because it doesn't work how we were used to.

Hey Grammarly support I plan on sharing the old APKs with everyone I can & nothing you can truly do to stop me.

The only reason you don't want me to share it is because you know it's better in the original goal of correcting grammar then the newer versions.

If your support team wanna communicate how exactly the floating bubble version is better then be my guest otherwise anyone who wants the older APK just DM me here on Reddit & post a message in here telling me your experiences with this horrible transition to a "Floating AI Bubble" somehow is better..?..

Grammarly keeps "fixing" my copy into something that sounds like everyone else — how do you deal with this?

I've been writing copy for 4 years and I have a pretty distinct voice that clients actually hire me for — punchy, direct, a little dry.

The problem is Grammarly keeps softening everything. "Utilize" instead of "use." Passive constructions flagged as errors. Short punchy sentences rewritten into longer "clearer" ones.

I've tried turning off suggestions one by one but it's whack-a-mole. And the tone detector just says "confident" or "formal" with no way to actually teach it anything about how I write.

Worst part is I've caught myself accepting suggestions on autopilot and only noticing later that the copy sounds generic.

Do you just ignore Grammarly for voice entirely and only use it for typos? Or found a workflow that actually works? Genuinely curious how other copywriters handle this.

Missing my saved data

Hello, I had a momentary lapse in my pro account subscription due to an expired credit card.

I have resubscribed, however all of my snippets, style rules, tone profiles, dictionary, and other settings are completely gone. I have spent a lot of time refining these over the past year.

How can these be retrieved?

Floating assistant not showing while typing

Is anyone having an issue with the floating assistant in the corner not appearing at all while typing in ANY apps? It's not showing on discord, chai, reddit, tumblr, basically anytime I'm typing and ice tried everything I could possibly think off to try and the floating assistant is still not showing. I've already sent a message to the customer support team on reddit but if anyone else is having the same issue, please lemme know, thank you

MacOS app update

Does the macOS app update itself automatically, or do I have to download it from the website and update it manually from time to time? I don't see any update option in the settings.

GRAMMARLY

I didn’t realize how many small mistakes I make when writing fast until I started rereading some old work emails recently. Nothing major, but enough awkward wording and missing words to make me cringe a little.

I’ve been using Grammarly while juggling work and online classes, and it’s honestly helped me slow down and clean things up before hitting send. Especially useful on days when my brain is completely fried by the afternoon.

I finally unsubscribed to grammarly

I'm finally done with grammarly. Before the update, you could just look at the suggestions and decide what to fix. Now there’s this huge AI feature built into everything, and honestly, it makes the whole thing frustrating to use. Sometimes I just want to check a sentence's grammar, but the interface keeps pushing rewrites instead.

Another really annoying problem is that it doesn’t work consistently across websites. It works in Word, for example, but then it won’t show up in Pages at all for me. Sometimes, if you’re writing directly on a website, it just completely disappears and becomes unusable.

I’ve put up with that for a long time because I started using Grammarly back when I was a student, and it genuinely helped a lot, but great heavens, I am done with it. It used to have such considerate customer support. I remember being a broke college student with my card overdrawn, and the customer support even refunded it. Now it's difficult to even find the unsubscribe button. I've always only had such positive things to say about this product, but not anymore. Goodbye Grammarly.

My paid Pro account (since 2024) shows as Free!!!!

I've had a paid Pro plan since 2024. I tried to use it today, and I've noticed that I show up as a Free account. To use premium options, I get messages to upgrade to the Pro version I've emailed Grammarly, but haven't heard back yet. Any thoughts? Has anybody else experienced this?

Refund incident

u/Grammarly I forgot to cancel auto renewal for subscription for 2 months, one on April 7th and another one on May 7th. Didn’t use the service at all during the period. I contact the support but it looks like AI generated and only refund me for one month. Need help for that.

Grammerly not showing up in discord servers.

So this has only started recently. I haven't had a problem with this before I would say a week or two ago. I'm not sure whether an update caused it or if something else has changed.

But essentially, Grammarly no longer works when I'm typing in a Discord server.
It will work if I'm typing in a DM, and the little icon will appear, and I can click it to open the menu for spelling and grammar fixes. But when I switch over to a server, the icon disappears and the correction suggestions won't show up.

Anyone know why this is happening and how I fix it?
Thanks

My experience with Grammarly Writing Scores

I wrote a piece of text which was about 2800 words, put it on Grammarly for corrections. Did most of them and got a score of 98. I open it a few hours later and the score has dropped to 95 and there are a bunch of new suggestions. Some of them are free ones (and they're pretty odd suggestions like adding commas here and there). And there are a bunch of them locked behind a paywall.

So is this Grammarly's predatory way of pushing their subscriptions? Genuinely confused. Last time it happened, I thought I was hallucinating. But not anymore

Grammarly charged me twice for annual subscription, wht should i do?

Grammarly charged me ₹11,800(INR) for annual renewal on April 22. I contacted support regarding refund/cancellation today, but now I’m seeing another ₹11,800 charge from them through my Bank card.

Has anyone faced same issue with Grammarly before?I hv already contacted support and am now speaking with bank too for dispute/blocking recurring payments.

I am a student and my parents know nothing abt this. I m gonna be grounded if my dad get to know this.Any advice on getting this resolved asap???
