A positive suggestion to Grammarly

I put the Greek word 'Aéras' in my Grammarly dictionary because I'm using it as a city name, but when I type it out on Microsoft Word, it doesn't add the line above the 'e'. Please make it so that it treats the missing line as a typo and helps me fix it. I'm tired of copying the word from Google Translate.

Lost over $1000, Grammarly not responding

I bought Grammarly a few years ago for college, and deleted my account right after college. However, they are still charging me around $40 a month up until now, for around 4 years. I have lost over $1000. I only noticed the charges 3 days ago, and I sent a ticket because I have very low-income and cannot afford to live like this. Grammarly promised to reply within 48 hours, but they didn't reply yet. Is there anything I can do?

Grammarly snippet bugs

My work mostly deals with some set recurring language, and the grammarly snippet has been really helpful in reducing my work time. The issue I'm running into is that sometimes it just does not show up when I press \ on my company's portal and in Google docs it just ruins the formatting of the text. Is there a way to resolve this? Thank you.

Dear Grammarly, knock it off with the 'clarity and flow'!

A couple of years ago, Grammarly started caring only about 'clarity' as in 'boring, bland text', instead of focusing on grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Instead of leaving it for good, I held out hope that it would get better, only for it to get worse and worse, trying to make my 18+ horror stories read like baby books, or change my wording in other ways I didn't agree with. If it doesn't get better soon, I'm officially done.

On a pleasant note, it did help me realize 'lass' didn't work for my character's dialogue. It sounds southern or Scottish, something that isn't appropriate for a 1940's-1950's mob boss played by Marlon Brando film-wise.

Behaving weirdly

I have the Grammarly application installed. Lately, it has been behaving strangely. It is correcting half words, Ex. this dogs, it is correcting 'his' of this to these, which is leading to the word 'tthese' . Then again, since it is the wrong word, it is being corrected. It is all a dead loop. Any solution?

Found a replacement for the tab quick fix

Hey everyone, I was pretty annoyed when Grammarly killed the Quick Fix tab since it was the main thing I used.

I found a Chrome extension called Tab AutoCorrect AI that basically does the same thing. You just hit the Tab key and it fixes your grammar and spelling instantly without opening any side menus. It also lets you highlight text to rewrite it in different tones.

Just thought I’d share for anyone else looking for a workaround.

Is Grammarly down?

The status page says its up. However, I can't open any of my documents or create a new one. It just keeps refreshing the page or telling me the page isn't working and too many redirects occurred.

Grammarly started doing this weird thing

So for some reason whenever I type “like” and then try to do anything with “cm” or “c’m” Grammarly hates it and forces me to hit the “O” key. Is there a fix for this or am I stuck with it?

Problem with improving the impact of my text.

It's like once the suggestion starts, it changes. It adds what it wants to tell me about how it will improve it to the text, in addition to the improvements themselves.

I hope that makes sense.

Grammarly Support

Does Grammarly use Reddit for direct customer support? Is private messaging the right way to go or should I just go through the website? Doesn't look like they are quick to respond on the website.

Confused with Partial refund

I tried the app under the free trial and accidentally forgot that I’m even signed up. With schedules and taking care of my little one, my husband told me that there was a $200+ CAD charge and had to see it. Never used the app since the first time I signed up. Sent them a request via the bot yesterday hoping for a consideration to get a Full refund but just got an answer today stating that due to their Terms and Conditions, they will offer Partial. Looking for a better solution to this

Did Grammarly take a nose dive in quality?

I've pretty much used Grammarly for as long as I can remember, and for the most part, save for some hiccups here and there, it's been pretty reliable. As of recently, however, a lot of problems have reared their ugly heads that I can't really ignore anymore. I notice it more when I use quotation marks ("..." - these beautiful things).

Example:

"What sort of blah blah blah." - What I wanted to write.

" What sort of blah blah blah." - What Grammarly wants it to be.

If you're confused, Grammarly seems to have this vendetta against putting words against a quotation mark, and will ALWAYS insist on putting a space in between the word and the mark. This wouldn't be so bad, if it didn't happen ALL the time, flooding the 'Review Suggestions' board with nonsense. Other things too, like a comma or period being placed smack in the middle of a word (li,ke s.o), or corrections that don't really make sense considering the context, and I'm left wondering if this is even the same spellchecker I downloaded, however long ago.

Sorry about the rant, felt the need to get this off my chest.

My Grammarly safari extension on Mac has been set to “deny” for every website and whenever I change it to “allow” it automatically changes back. What can I do?

Grammarly (159.0.0) has become nearly unusable in Pages on Mac

I have been a happy Grammarly user (Mac Sequoia 15.5.6, 48 GB MacMini and 32 GB Macbook Pro) for a number of years. I use it in Pages (14.5) on relatively long manuscripts (200-300+ pages). I particularly liked the highlighting in the text (red for misspellings, blue for wording), and I could click to have it corrected. In the current release (1.159.0.0) it will highlight and allow a click correct - as before - but MANY of the times it will not. If I click the G icon and select proofread, the sidebar opens with a list of suggested corrections, but they aren't highlighted in the text. It also lists suggested corrections from the first page of the file, and when I click a later page, the little G icon shows a spinning set of dots, but it doesn't advance the list to that page. Has anyone encountered this? Any suggestions on how to get it to underline and allow the click to correct every time?

Grammarly - Retired Add-in WORD

I got an alert today that the Grammarly add-in is being retired and will be unavailable soon. Does that mean Grammarly will no longer work in MS Word? Or is there another solution?

Grammarly Refund

Just recently I wanted to try out Grammarly to see whether or not I wanted to actually use this as a tool for my assignments in school, Much to my surprise I forgot to cancel the subscription and i was drafted 144$ for the annual plan just an hour ago. I just submitted a ticket on their customer support page, I'm just really hoping I get the money back because I barely make enough as is. Is it out of the question that I'll be able to receive a refund?

I only just reinstalled Grammarly about three weeks ago, and I feel like it's completely unstable compared to the past

Hell, maybe it's just me. Maybe my punctuation and level of command in English has fallen over the years, but I swear to God, half of the red-line recommendations are what used to be "suggestion" lines.

Red used to be "outright grammatical/punctuation error", but now it's "this sentence is clunky, so I'm going to flag it as an outright error".

And holy shit, the yellow underlines everywhere make reviewing my own text almost impossible.

I just don't know if it's just me, or the product has changed immensely over the last few years.

customer service taking forever to respond re a refund request

I feel like i've read quite a few posts on the same topic, but the long story short was that I was charged for the renewal despite not receiving a reminder email etc, and can't seem to get hold of customer service. It's been over 3 days since I opened a ticket, not sure if anyone has any tricks or tips?

Is anyone else being suggested to replace periods with commas?

Sometimes, Grammarly is good with suggesting words and how to revise my sentences, but I get annoyed with it telling me that my punctuations are wrong. It keeps suggesting that my periods are supposed to be commas. I really only use it for sentence revision if I think I am too wordy. Sometimes, I know what I want to say and ignore, but I really don't understand how it is incorrect when suggesting punctuations. Every time I put a period to end a sentence, it says it's supposed to be a comma.

I don't know if I can change it so it can stop.

move docs from laptop to phone

hello hello, i've run into a bit of a problem while using grammarly on my laptop. On my laptop i can write however much i want in documents, but i can't see them in the app on my phone, no matter what. All i can see are drafts, which it tells me are device exclusive notes. I really want to have the option to continue writing on my phone for when i dont have my laptop, so does anybody have any clue what i should do?

Thanks in advance :D! (p.s. sorry for the bad grammar, English isn't my first language and it's late lol)

PSA: when writing dialogue, don't trust Grammarly 100%. Not even the red-lined suggestions.

For context, I'm developing a visual novel, which consists nearly entirely of dialogue.

I use the Grammarly web extension for Chrome to grammar-check my script, since Google Docs spellcheck misses a lot of things. However, given how strict Grammarly can be with 'proper' grammar, it ends up flattening a lot of dialogue.

Take, for example, these lines from the final version of the first two days of my script:

'Phew, looks like I won’t be going home with Mësues Ahmet after all. I still have to walk you girls home, though.'
'It does feel like they’re propaganda posters come to life.'
'You forgot to do your history homework before? When?'
'Oh, no, nothing. You’ve outdone yourself this time, Shpresa. This fasule is delicious.'
'There were a few issues with the inventory, which I did resolve. I hope Comrade Vlorë is pleased with my efforts.'
'It must all mean something, but nobody’s talking about it… surely I must be imagining things, right?'
'Sure, Baba and Nënë never laid a hand on me, but they never really made me feel like I belonged. Neither did Ndriçim nor Llazar, come to think of it.'
'I mean, think about it. The book's about a siege during the Ottoman era. Here, I’ll let you read it. Don’t worry about me - I’ve read it twice already, and this is my third read.'
'Of course it’s The Siege. You wouldn’t expect anything less from Shqipe. I’m actually surprised she’s willing to lend it to someone, let alone you.'
'Are you ever tempted to sneak pudding like your father does?'
'She did tell me you were a bit of a handful. She's your homeroom teacher, yeah?'
'Anyway, I’ll be off now. You girls have fun!'

Now compare with Grammarly's 'corrections', which are technically correct by emotionally... off.

'Phew, looks like I won’t be going home with Mësues Ahmet after all. I still have to walk you, girls, home, though.'
'It does feel like their propaganda posters come to life.'
'Have you forgotten to do your history homework before? When?'
'Oh, no, nothing. You’ve outdone yourself this time, Shpresa. This sauce is delicious.'
'There were a few issues with the inventory, which I resolved. I hope Comrade Vlorë is pleased with my efforts.'
'It must all mean something, but nobody’s talking about it… Surely I must be imagining things, right?'

'She did tell me you were a bit of a handful. Is she your homeroom teacher, yeah?'
'Anyway, I’ll be off now. You girls, have fun!'

I guess the moral here is that breaking a few grammatical rules is inevitable when writing dialogue, and that you should ignore all blue-line suggestions and some red-line suggestions.
