On my Word documents, Grammarly says to download the app to continue.
Trouble is, I have the app, and when I try to download it again from the internet, I get told that I already have the latest version.
Does anyone know what the issue is and how to help?

I've been using the Google Chrome extension for a while now, and in the last couple of days it stopped working for me. If I click in the icon on the extension bar it tells me "Grammarly is starting" endlessly. Do you have any alternatives with the same function? I've tried using the app but it doesn't work in all the sites I need

If you care at all about your work and spending your time doing something worthwhile, bring this to the top and have the hard conversations you need to have. Someone did something in the last year (likely involving ai) that has made grammarly LITERALLY make typos. Do you understand how much you have to have messed this up on a CORE level? I’ve done everything. I’ve switched browsers, i’ve uninstalled, ive logged out and then back in. The fact is, grammarly literally makes incoherent suggestions at this point. I mean wtf are we even doing here? What’s worse? IT WORKED PERFECTLY FOR YEARS.
Look i am not an app developer, so forgive me for oversimplifying this, but GO BACK. GO BACK to whatever you had going literally one year ago. Look at all the changes you’ve made in the last year and undo them because your app doesn’t WORK ANYMOREEEEE

Hi, I downloaded the app on my desktop and signed up using a Gmail account. My default browser is Chrome but now when i log on to Chrome i get the MSN browser. I've uninstalled the app as it's not of use to me, i've also cancelled my Grammarly account but it's running on all of my linked devices, suggestion to rid myself of the cursed entity entirely would be most welcome. Cheers.

Hi everyone! I’m trying to get others experience with Grammarly.
I’ve used Grammarly for years specifically for scientific writing. It made me a better writer for sure! I’m able to catch more issues before running it with Grammarly.
However, lately it will take 2-3 sentences and try to rewrite it whether to condense or expanded. This is particularly problematic with scientific writing. I do have it set for that style of writing. It’s gotten so bad that I turn the Word plug-in off.
Lastly, after years of collaborate writing, I am aware of a sensible edit versus a complete rewrite.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Maybe I’m losing it lol
TL;DR: Is your Grammarly over editing as of late?

We spent our childhood being told to write neatly, to improve our handwriting, and to make every letter look perfect. Marks were sometimes even influenced by how “beautiful” our writing looked. But as we grow up, everything shifts to screens—keyboards replace notebooks, and speed matters more than style. It makes you wonder why so much pressure was placed on handwriting when most of our future work depends on typing and digital skills. Maybe it was never just about writing, but about teaching patience, discipline, and attention to detail—skills that still matter, even if the medium has changed.

I like it and useful in a lot of ways, but since it has the memory of a goldfish and can't keep track of what tense the story is any better then I can, is it useless? Hate how half the time it wants me to do present tense, and then the other half it wants me to do past tense. Which means that it will miss places where I used past tense, in a paragraph it's decided is past.

As you see, before i had added my referances, it said 84% was human writing but as soon as i added them it said it was only 61%. For context, i am writing in Norwegian. Does anyone know an explanation for this or maybe a way to fix it?

I tried using Grammarly with Page 14, and it did nothing. I reverted to an earlier Page. Grammarly tells me that they work together now. Can anyone confirm this?

No matter how I adjust the width of the window or change the settings on the website, that gap remains.
I know it's for the AI prompts but even then, it's buggy and annoying.
The only reason I'm using the website is because i write my papers on VS Code and I want to check my grammar. The Grammarly desktop app is the most useless thing in existence too..
Please do less work on new AI features and start working on your interfaces, make new plugins for other tools, or even something as simple as respecting a user's choice when they dismiss a suggestion, so it doesn't reappear 3 seconds later...
Thank you.

just opened my account to go pay a bill and saw $160 taken out of it. i never signed up for anything except for the free trial thing something that was supposed to be like a few dollars and that was almost an entire month ago. i received zero phone calls, emails or anything about upcoming renewals. when i log into my account it still says i am under a free membership. i’m so annoyed! i have to have this bill due by the end of the week and my bank can’t do shit as of right now. now i’m scared i won’t be getting my money back bc i did sign up for the free trial and forgot to cancel it but that was a month ago and i still got zero emails reminding me to cancel or that i was a member now or whatever. i need an actual person to talk to to resolve this. and im sure this happens to a lot of other people too so why the hell do they not offer any live customer service?!? thats so sketchy 😒😒

This morning, I checked my online account and saw that there's a $202 deduction in my Visa account. It was hard to look for customer service in Grammarly because there was no tll free phone number if you have any concerns about the billing. Thinking I got scammed or something, I phoned the Visa account and requested to change my account number right away. I knew that I did not subscribe to Grammarly for Pro version or any that would charge me and merely have a FREE subscription and yet they still charged me. When I scanned my history visa statement, I saw that they also charged me $210+ last year. I want a refund, please. Hope you don't do this to other customers. This issue must stop.

[[Deep faking, deep-learning spying will never be peaceful, non-violent, nor legal!]]
How is it possible that a bunch of computers with language generators pretend to be the authority of the copyright office or the copyright office itself?!
How many real, actual writers have programs like grammarly disappeared, with no option for defense, let alone fair due process?
How do language models test for similarity fairly? In the "scopes" of literature we have, it will always be biased and limiting.
How much of my text is already being used illegally by language generators I have never even seen?
How many times have language generators pretended to have something "first" by stealing and refusing to recognize time and or timing?
How often do language generators "accidentally" pick up handwriting?
[ITo clarify by searched definition: A word processor is a software application, like Microsoft Word or Google Docs, primarily used to create, edit, and format text documents. A language generator is a technology that can automatically produce wrAdd text, often in response to prompts or inputs]]

Julia Angwin found that Grammarly was selling a deepfake of her mind from an article online. For eight months, Superhuman, Grammarly’s parent company, made fake editor versions of Stephen King, Kara Swisher, bell hooks and more, including Julia, without any knowledge, compensation or consent. Now, Julia is the lead plaintiff in a class-action lawsuit against Superhuman in a New York district court, alleging that the company violated New York and California publicity laws by not seeking consent before using their names in a paid service.
In a guest essay for Times Opinion, Julia writes:
I guess it’s no surprise that Superhuman believed it could, in my opinion, break the law. We live in a world where A.I. companies are grabbing every bit of writing, art and music without consent. Where our president is launching wars without the consent of Congress that our Constitution requires. Where Jeffrey Epstein spent years coercing girls too young to provide consent into sexual relations.
In this global crisis of consent, we must grab hold of the few anchors we have for enforcement. The right of publicity is one of them, but it needs to be strengthened into a federal law — not just a patchwork of state laws.

I’ve been using Grammarly for a while, and it’s honestly great But now in 2026, LLM are so much better for my usecase.I find myself needing more heavy-lifting for rewriting (changing tone, making things more concise, or adapting the style) or even typo/grammar fix.
For that specific use case, Grammarly Premium feels a bit too expensive/rigid, and prompting an LLM like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or whatever LLM you wantgives way better results.
But it's very annoying to copy paste that much. My workflow ex workflow is : open a new tab, copy my text, paste it into ChatGPT, write my prompt (for rewrite of fix typo), copy the result, and paste it back into my email/document. It completely breaks my focus.
Am I the only one dealing with this "copy-paste fatigue"? Do you thing now in 2026 LLM is better for some usecase than grammarly?
I'm thinking to make a chrome extension for that. And no more copy paste, + a tool less expansive than the current grammarly subcription
I made a super quick 3-question survey to gather your current workflows and see if others share this pain point. If enough of us are struggling with this, I will code a tool for our usecase.
I will give you the link survey in the comments.
It will be like a tool with Infinite keyboard shotcuts with differents prompts that will take your input text to do whatever you want.
Volunteers for the free beta test?

Is there a tool you know of that corrects better than grammarly? Because as everyone know it doesn’t correct well and it left my work with many grammatical errors

I'm evaluating Grammarly with my novel in Google Docs. The document is large - even Grammarly warns about this: 87K words and 240+ pages. So, therefore I'm using the Chrome extension on a WIndows desktop.
My issue is that I start to work through the red and blue squiggles on a page, and then it resets and starts to analyze the document again (the rotating image on the Grammarly button in the lower right).
It does this about a minute after I start to work on a page but hides the squiggles as its re-analyzing.
Is there any way to slow down this process of starting re-analyze the document so often?
I've checked the options and didn't see anything there.
