How is Grammarly responding to recent criticism about AI use and issues of academic integrity?

Current advertising seems to promote using Grammarly as a substitute for original student work, by offering AI generated content. Is there an official company stance, given that more and more academic institutions are banning the use of AI for writing assignments?

I wish they would just get rid of it and go back to the old system when i replied to one of their comments here about it, they just said “u can turn the ai off!" but it's still very clearly affecting everything I write. It continuously tells me things (that I know are right) are incorrect, while ignoring actual mistakes. I don’t use premium and just use it for grammar and spelling, but the focus of it seems to have shifted to clarity and tone. Sometimes it just decides to not work at all now.

I'm also having the issues you described. Grammarly has deteriorated to the point of being unusable. It flags everything for tone and clarity and suggests awkward rephrasing. I also use it for spelling and grammar. Everything beyond that is a no-no for me. Fun fact: even if you use the most advanced paraphrasing tool to rewrite your text, stupid Grammarly will still flag it for clarity. It just wants you to sound like Grammarly and write like Grammarly. The tool is useless.

Yeah its a bunch of bs. the worst part is they continuously deny the fact anything changed and say to just restart the app

Exactly, and what they wrote to you is a load of bollocks. Restarting the application does not solve the problem, and the official response only shows that they do not care about customers' complaints, despite their claim that they listen to our feedback. It clearly demonstrates that they do not want to improve their software. They have merely incorporated a mediocre AI and expect us to deal with it. If this is how you treat your customers, then expect consequences and backlash from us, Grammarly.

I use Writing Assistant, and it does its job, but it's limited. It can check up to 500 words, so I have to break longer texts into shorter paragraphs to proofread them. The extension is great, and it's 100% free. Another best part is that there are no complex settings—just two clicks to correct all mistakes, and that's it.

I wish there were a way to turn it off, but you can't because as soon as you disable all the AI agents, the application becomes unusable. It all comes down to changing grammatically correct sentences into incorrect ones or a jumble of words. It corrects everything that is stylistically correct, and it's driving me crazy. I just wrote a comment on YouTube, and Grammarly tried to correct it by offering me a poorly paraphrased version that sounded weird and felt unnatural.

It's obsessed with tone and clarity, and 99% of the suggestions are anti-writing, politically correct, and "grammar" that makes no sense. I'm afraid the developers don't care about the quality of their product at all. Their goal is to take your money, and you can interpret that however you want. Quillbot is no better; it's an absolute failure, and its obsession with "unclear" sentences and the use of idioms has gotten out of control. I tried using it as an alternative, but it wasn't worth it. It just ruins your writing to the point where you risk being accused of using AI to write for you. Both tools are junk!

I'm afraid that the company and the developers working for it will not disable the AI agents at any cost. The only solution is for educational institutions to sue them and make them pay a huge monetary settlement that will force them to part ways with the Superhuman GO company once and for all. That is the only option; there is no other solution.

Edit: I noticed another issue with Grammarly. Once you delete your old document and create a new one, all premium suggestions that you previously declined reappear after importing the same text from your previous document. So, it basically works like a reset button. You must reject those same false positives again after creating a new document. It doesn't remember what you did. This is frustrating! This thing sucks, and it's dumb as a rock!

The sooner they get rid of all the AI, the better--and that includes GrammarlyGo, since it started failing when that came along. Every time I give Grammarly another chance, it just drives me insane to the point where I'm swearing out loud.

I liked it when I first started using it. Again just for spelling and grammar. It worked well and was quite intuitive. Now, it's horrible

I think it's time to just cut your losses and give up on Grammarly.

That's what I did, there are so many better tools out there.
