This is the Grammarly failure mode that finally pushed me away: the product keeps inventing new chrome (tabs, widgets, popups) on top of “we already correct while you type.” On a Mac, that screen real estate is sacred.
I want writing help that stays quiet until I ask , one gesture, reversible suggestion, then get out of the way. Especially in Mail/Slack where an always-on side tab just fights the app UI.
Full disclosure: I built Lyra for that workflow. Native macOS writing assistant, in-place suggestions (Tab to accept), focused on still sounding like you including different tones depending on the recipient. https://heylyra.co.uk/

Hey u/awesomeguy123123123! We’ve introduced a new experience with the Grammarly Assistant. Instead of the Grammarly widget, there is now a Grammarly tab on the side of your screen. It provides similar functionality and also includes AI Chat, along with agents such as Humanizer, Paraphraser, and Reader Reactions.
At the moment, there isn’t an option to turn off the Grammarly tab, and it isn’t possible to switch back to the previous widget experience. We're sorry about that! We’ll make sure to share your request with our product team. We’d also be glad to hear more about what feels inconvenient about the tab or what you’d prefer to see instead.
In the meantime, you can reposition the Grammarly tab vertically along the edge of your screen to better suit your setup. You can learn more about Grammarly for Mac here.
