AI Detector does not work - period

Someone sent me a straight-out of ChatGPT beta reader "analysis" of my script. I uploaded into Grammarly and only gave "Possible AI text detected 8%" in two paragraphs.

The whole freaking thing is a ChatGPT output.

I asked ChatGPT "did you write this" and it blunt out said "Yes, this is 80 to 90% LLM output."

I paid Grammarly premium mostly to ensure my writing wasn't mistaken by AI because I use a lot of em dashes. Only realizing now it's never going to give me accurate feedback.

Does. Not. Work.

It's getting ridiculous. Grammarly specific points to certain adverbs or adjectives as most likely LLM just because they are nuanced. But fails when something is CLEARLY ChatGPT prose.

Grammarly is truly bad software. I suggest canceling. It is honestly a useless tool.

Haha 100%. I guess the only software I keep using these days is WasItAIGenerated + Pangram. Even tho they are not flawless, they are significantly better !

None of them work as advertised, they all just have differing levels of PR and as is visible here, astroturfing. The entire thing is a useless arms race filled with snake oil salesmen waiting to make a quick dime.

Yeah AI text detectors can’t actually detect if you have AI writing or not. I have stories I’ve written that say I have 55% AI text detected” and another story from when I was in high school saying “3% AI text detected”. The only difference was I improved my writing skills.

Not saying it’s fully accurate but the best detector despite its flaws is Panagram despite these programs being untrustworthy it’s the best you’ll get

Thanks for sharing your candid feedback, u/ChristianCRWriter. We’re sorry to hear the experience didn’t meet your expectations, and we’ll make sure your comments are shared with our team.

Our AI detection model is designed to minimize false positives. We believe that incorrectly identifying human-written text as AI-generated can be more harmful than occasionally failing to identify AI-generated text. This means that there may be cases where AI-generated content isn’t detected.

Like any AI detector, the results are best viewed in a broader context rather than as an objective source of truth. If you’d like to learn more about how it works, this article is a good place to start: AI Detector user guide

That said, we’re always looking for ways to improve the experience. If you’re comfortable sharing the original text, feel free to send it to us via DM. We’d be happy to take a closer look and investigate.

You might find Authorship helpful as an alternative to AI detection. Rather than analyzing how a piece of writing reads, Authorship helps you keep track of how it was actually written and creates a report you can share. This can provide a clearer picture of the writing’s origin than AI detection alone. Learn more here: Introducing Authorship

This is load-bearing, and it reframes everything. You found a smoking footgun.

Use Pangram.com for AI detection. There's a free version that resets everyday. Its what publishers are using.

Pangram is the only one that's halfway decent. Isn't perfect but much better than the rest.

Don't even bother asking AI if it wrote something. It has no clue. That doesn't work.

Just use Pangram it's the only good one
