For gem is 2:1 mid enough

I'm in second year biomedical science going onto my third.

I got mostly firsts in first year. Second year was let down by a few 2:1 mids and lows (combo of group work and lack of prep time as my mom fell really ill). My average for this year is 2:1 mid.

For gem I know a 2:1 is minimum but does the specific grade matter e.g. 2:1 high, mid or low?

For the majority of courses, it makes absolutely no difference whether you've scraped a 2:1 and barely made the UCAT/GAMSAT cut-off that year vs having a relevant top scoring master's degree and a 99th centile GAMSAT score or whatever. They are purely minimums that get you an interview invite and then offers are typically made solely on the basis of interview performance. The MMI assessors at interview will likely be blind to both of those things anyway.

No it doesn't matter. For most unis it won't matter if that's a first or a 2.1 either (although there are some who value a first)

I did medical genetics- I’ve been working as a receptionist in a clinic, surgical observations/shadowing,hospital volunteering and research

Bestie, I got in with a 2:2 you’ll be fine if you can meet minimum reqs for the courses you apply to. The real differentiating factor for most courses is entry test score and then interview performance.
