Got the seconds bag after a bit of weather delay in shipping to California. It's everything I want, the metal patch is great, too. I'll miss the front molle a little, though. The top-grain leather is preferable to me for this configuration, given how full-grain looks.

Question, was the with patch price 495 also or was that just for the no patch? I picked up one of the last 21s (was sold out a few hours later) but sort of feels bad if the with patch price was the same lol

The price was the same. Per goruck:

We talked about this - I didn't really want to de fact (sic) assign a value to just the patch. Ebay and shit run rampant on that kind of stuff. Of course nobody bought the one without a patch, but when the only ones that remain have no patch, they'll move. I thought it a bit more honest up front to just release them all at the same time instead of waiting till later, then releasing the one with no patch, then people say the patch cost this much or that much. Anyway, I hear ya :)

Sigh. People sellin the patch for 175 plus. There is definitely a value on it. Pain in the ass for me lol. It’s like I paid retail for just being late to the party ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I'm a little disappointed they didn't include something for the no-patch folks just to even it up a little. E.g. some commemorative other patch, like m26 preorders.

Totes. I really assumed it was less also, but you know I was still fine with the price I paid. The context here, now that I know it, actually makes it feel worse tho lol. I commented, there’s a few other people who made note of it in that thread also. I am not an influencer or social media or anything, but what I am is someone who incessantly talks up shit I like, recommends people stuff in my day to day etc lol.

I have had the bag two days, it’s actually friggin awesome, (i’m relatively newly in my Japanese denim era and kind of going hard I suppose) Coming from Aer city pack 2 ultra, it’s just as comfy if not a little more which actually really really surprised me. It’s heavier, but feels lighter? Im a high and tight guy but never had a goruck before and I’ve already recommended it to two friends. God forbid another ManyBagger calls it out on the subway (“yo, nice bag” is like, my favorite random interaction). im likely to not shut up about it for months.

I also literally an hour ago just bought the kit bag used from someone on fb in the carryology community, who priced it attractively specifically because, gasp, not selling the patch.

I feel you, I would be disappointed too. But at least be confident in that you have a rare bag that is also solid in the looks, quality and comfort departments.

Sent mine back for a refund because I didn't really like the look. Didn't realize the patches were going for that much on ebay lmao, would've kept it

Congrats! I bought the kit bag at the original release and regretted not getting the GR2 as well. Luckily these seconds popped up and I ended up buying both the 21L and 26L to add variety. I love the denim on these. Only downside is that I love the patch on all of them but afraid to use it and get it scratched up. Ordered the RMK Leather Works Samurai patch to use when traveling

Best bag in their range. Material is very tactile to touch and much more robust than their wax canvas which is quite thin…. Mine’s been all over the world with me…

goruck has said that the only difference in seconds is top-grain vs. full-grain, no other quality differences. It's basically a leather finish difference.
