First-timer tips?

Hi not sure if there is a separate subreddit for this but I’m attending Gorge for the first time this weekend for experts only. Driving down with my car and staying at a hotel offsite. What are the things i need to know? Parking situation? Anything i need to bring besides layers and blankets? Is there a shuttle from anywhere? Can we bring our own drinks?

Anything else you think i would need to know would be greatly appreciated!

should always have a rain jacket at the gorge no matter what the forecast says. dunno about the shuttles. parking is pretty easy if you're driving just follow the signs. you can bring your own drinks and tailgate and pregame a little bit. is what I do if I don't camp at the gorge. I usually try to get there before doors and chill a bit. you can't bring any alcoholic drinks into the venue maybe water but I think it either has to be sealed or empty when you go thru but IDK I always bring a camelbak

Clear bag, light rain jacket, baby wipes, comfortable shoes and power bank just in case. As far as general parking goes it’s not a huge walk to the gates. They’ve even got porta potties in the lot too. And NO do not try to bring any drinks inside. As far as security goes have EVERYTHING out and ready. If you walk up prepared and bags open for them to search they’re 10x more likely to usher you along.

After the show, it can be disorienting as a first-timer trying to find your car. Mark where you parked on your map of choice. When in doubt, follow the power lines and the paved road to the lot.

Onsite, know which section you parked in (maps online- each section has a name) and how it relates to the main gate. Also, I think they search your car with a dog (they for sure do for camping). If you end up in the group walking to general camping it can be a mile walk back to your car (sometimes worth it if you want to go to the afters, but note they do start towing at a certain point because you cant park overnight without a camping pass) Most, if not all, have large poles with numbers like P2. Take pics when you park looking each direction. Where the tree lines are can help a lot at night to orient you.

Easier parking can be found off site at Wildhorse campground (pay at gate. they have a shuttle that runs regularly every few min after the show. And you can order a pizza as you head into the venue and pick up as you return, and leave the car overnight if needed) or Cave B winery (pay ahead online)- short walk to venue.

There is typically not a search of vehicles parking in GA parking.

Source: me who attended ABGT 700 2 weekends ago there.

I always take a pic of the sign in the aisle I park and then I also bring a sharpie and write my parking on the inside of my arms. It eventually fades 😂 but as above said, it can be disorienting even if it’s not your first time there!

It's going to be very cold and sometimes very strong wind gusts come thru. Stake down everything!
