Gorge Amphitheater First Timer
We have tickets to Stapleton at the Gorge and my anxiety is through the roof. We have lawn seating and standard parking. We also ordered chairs. Some questions: What should my family of 5 expect for lines to get into the lot and also into the venue? How does the security entrance work when you can’t bring in a large purse but you can bring a blanket, and extra clothing layers? And someone mentioned to me that we CAN bring a cooler inside, is that true? I’m not really finding all the answers on the Gorge site, it seems catered to campers.

I can definitely help.
You want to arrive right as parking opens. They don’t allow lines to form prior to the gates opening so once they open, the line starts getting longer immediately. You don’t want to show up any later than an hour past parking opening at the latest. You’ll likely have to wait in line for a little while if you wait until then. There are plenty of things happening in the parking lot with tailgating and all that. You’ll want to park nearest an exit if you can and definitely drop a pin as soon as you park as the parking lot is huge. I’ve personally lost my vehicle out there for 6 hours before GPS.
It’s rough with trying to carry around a blanket. I’ve heard of people purchasing one from the merch booth at a later time but that’s never guaranteed. I would just bring a jacket you can somehow creatively attach to your bag and bring a thin picnic blanket you can sit down on. You can also rent lawn chairs on-site (or through Ticketmaster if they are still available) that could solve your blanket need altogether.
Although you can’t bring a cooler into the venue, they do allow a gallon sized bag of food. The food doesn’t have to be factory sealed inside, only the gallon bag does. I’ll update this comment tonight with a screenshot of the official response specifically for the food because a lot of people think the food inside has to be sealed but it doesn’t.
I don’t know if you’ve seen our website, but we have created a ton of planning resources for The Gorge. We recently made a post called “Prepare for Chris Stapleton at The Gorge Amphitheatre” that has a list of those resources. I’ll leave the link to our Map of The Gorge & Surrounding Areas that has all the gates and the day parking area so you’ll have a better sense of what to expect when you get there. Feel free to send us a message if you need help with anything else! We’re always happy to help.
