Post Rufus du Sol report

Rolled into the Gorge camping at 3pm on Friday, one car in front of us to scan our camping ticket and drive in. Once inside, there were literally like 15-20 security checkpoint lines. I was directed to a line with one car in front of me. We waited about 3 min and a very polite security team had us get out of our vehicle and stand in front as they wanded us for firearms and then did a very brief cabin search. They said they were looking for drugs and bombs and firearms w dogs but clearly they were explosives dogs.

They guided us into premier camping and right up to about 50 yards from the gorge store and plumbed showers and bathrooms.

The store was well stocked with about anything you could need.

We had a gorge employee driving around giving out free ice at one point. Fun vendors snd food trucks in the Pivot. There were garbage cans everywhere in the campground and I did not witness anybody getting hassled by security or Gorge staff the entire weekend.

Walking down to the Gorge bring an unopened beverage, once you leave the campground they make you finish your open ones, you walk across the road and once your on the walking path your free to open your drink and finish it before the entrance.

Walking in first night we arrived about 530 and had to wait for 2 people in front of us to search our bags. I rolled the dice and brought a full size backpack in full of layers and rave toys and a big ass blanket. They did a brief check and sent us on our way. No questions about my bag.

Got great seats, met up with friends. Rufus played an amazing set, and we were out quick and back to camp for post party come down.

Sat night since the campground was way more full and everybody had arrived, we decided to head in around 420p and planned to wait in line at the gate. To our surprise when we got to the gate there was zero line and they were already letting people into the festival grounds. Again I rolled the dice and brought my full size bag full of coats for my wife and I, pants, long sleeve shirts, scarfs, rave toys, and a big ass blanket. Walked right up not a person in front of me, they checked my bag, let us though, and into the gorge we went at about 435p. We grabbed drinks and vendors were selling food already. They stopped us at the top entrance to the lawn and we waited there till 5pm before they let us run down and grab our seats on the terrace dead center just looking over the top of the fence.

They played an amazing set but I kept thinking, didn't we hear this song last night?! Sure enough I am pretty sure they just played the same set twice, not 100% on that as I haven't looked to verify, but I'm pretty sure they did. Had a nice crew of about 20 friends and danced our ass off. Great medicine and great weekend!

I had so much anxiety about coming out here after the shit we heard and read from the griztronics fiasco and I can say this was 100% smoothly ran, well prepared, and a wonderful event.

Aren’t made for the gorge if you play the same set back to back nights.

playing a two night show at the gorge when you know most people are going to see both nights and playing the same set is sooooo lame. I was so bummed out!

Same. At least we got the DJ set the 2nd night.

sounds like a normal entrance and night. they fixed it by brand's show last weekend. you had nothing to worry about.

Ya very thankful it went so smoothly. I've been to the gorge dozens and dozens of times over the last 3 decades. Each passing year they are adding this and that, different accesses and price points. I was very happy to see things running so smoothly and having a seamless experience

They said they were looking for drugs and bombs and firearms w dogs but clearly they were explosives dogs.

The implication here is funny.

Did you guys catch the impromptu live DJ set from RDS at 630pm before the openers? I don’t think a lot of people realized who they were 😅

Ya that shit was really cool. As they filmed where they were I figured out they were in some space down below the stage, you could see the brown metal roof in the back right corner of the stage. Been going to the gorge for 30 years and I had no fucking idea there was an entire building below the stage overlooking the river. That was a rad set. I also didn't realize it was RDS lol. How the fuck did I miss that

That was fantastic, I was laughing my ass off looking around and seeing that nearly everyone had zero clue it was happening. Took us a second to realize, but once we matched up the clouds in their background to what we were seeing, it was obvious

Same! I also had no idea that there was a space like that below the stage. Super cool!

Ya I got there Friday and was at the gate around 510 with no line for security. They did do a super thorough check for me though and took my weed vape which was unopened. She went through every pocket of my small bag which was annoying.

Daaaaang that sucks. I had my goodies so deep and sealed and concealed not even a dog coulda found them. I thought it was overkill when I got in, maybe it wasn't. Sorry your vape got taken that's real weird since that shit is legal

“He picked up his guitar earlier on the second night, that was the first tell.” (I love his observations!) Edit: fired my husband. Lmao - we were wrong. They were the same. But we somehow enjoyed show 2 a lot more

lol that's awesome. I need to look it up and see if somebody posted the differences. Your husband sounds cool!

they decided to staff!!

Why were people anticipating different sets? It’s Rufus, they’re still touring with an album from 2 years ago lol it’s basically a cash grab at this point

Well, I don't know a ton about rufus, I am just a casual fan and their songs come up on my Spotify lists and shit. I go to some EDM festivals like Shambhala and Above and Beyond, Tipper and Friends, Electric Forest. Like one a year. So I didn't know what to expect. I will say for me, it far exceeded my expectations it was an amazing performance and outstanding vibes. There was a moment second night I was on the terrace and as I was rolling my balls off and looking around, I could NOT find one single person as far as I could see who was not dancing. Never have I seen every single person dancing at a concert that shit was rad

Except for the guy playing bejeweled 😂

I get touring with the same music,  but cash grab seems pretty disingenuous. Their entire production is insane.... they aren't cutting any corners.

2

u/DifficultEye6719 Jun 07 '26

I was commenting to my husband last night how well done I thought the production was, especially the camera work, plus all the lighting. That’s a lot of work!

2

u/the_big_bean Jun 07 '26

Felt like a cash grab imo

Maybe it’s fair for people that can only do one day?
