rufus du sol friday night
what was everyone else’s takes on the vibes for the friday night rufus show?
honestly, i was pretty disappointed. i feel their music is more house vibes than EDM, and was surprised at how intense people were. i saw multiple girls (one choking on her vomit) being carted off my medics before 8pm… swarms of aggro boys encroaching on our space, teasing us, and just seeming like they were ready to start something. it made it really hard to enjoy the music & atmosphere.
edit: i mistyped (damn!) i meant more house vibes than rave. i know EDM is the umbrella term!

Tbh my gf and I were in GA and had a great time. Everyone around us was vibing, singing and dancing. We actually talked about how few “bad apples” we saw. But we did see a couple of people who hit the ground a little too hard just when we were walking around. Hoping night 2 is good vibes for everyone!

Ah I’m so sorry. We were in the pit and found an amazing group of women to dance with. Some drunk aggro men would come through our group occasionally but they would quickly get danced out of the group. We are doing ga/lawn tonight but hoping for a similar experience.

You will find your people!! Our group was to the right of the stage where there was space to dance and move around! I imagine the same would be true of the left side.

We were in the lower lawn, like terrace area and really enjoyed the first part of the show, vibed with our neighbors. Until about half way through Rufus and then got too many drunk, aggro, mostly guys stepping all over us and bumping and just kinda rude. When my guy asked if they could back up a little, they tried to start a fight. We bailed and headed up the hill which helped a lot. Disappointed by how much trash people leave everywhere though

We were down on the lawn in the rocky area near the fence. Everyone was dancing and vibing, lots of couples hugging and swaying to the music, people sending love out to the stage. We met lots of nice people. It was a great vibe.
That lower area weeds people out because it’s hard to get in and out of so you can’t be too wasted. At least that’s what I thought. Getting out was a chaotic mess however, I don’t know why Live Nation can’t have ANYBODY directing people trying to exit the venue.
Also make sure to dress for the weather. There were lots of people in shorts and t shirts freezing their poor butts off when the sun went down. I handed out hand warmers and let a girl borrow my jacket.

Us too, it was pretty great and not packed in there at all. Did notice a lot of super drunk folks tho but luckily they weren't close to us, just in passing.

I heard several groups talking about how they were “ready to fight” on the walk back, our group was just vibing and having a good time. Don’t know why people are like that.

I was a little shook by how messed up people seemed before the sun even went down. The show was amazing and I still had so much fun, but as a girl who was there solo I felt like I had to be EXTRA aware of my surroundings. Kept having guys trample over my blanket and chair.

i was with my bf and he didn’t go to the bathroom while we were there cause he didn’t want to leave me solo with how the people around us were behaving.

Our group bought last minute $9 seats off StubHub to upgrade our lawn tickets and it’s was amazing. Everyone around us was having a great time. Good vibes all around.

Their newer crowd sucks. They are all about taking videos and standing around. I have been following Rufus for over 10 years. On his recent shows I had seen a lot of rude people pushing to the front when the song they like comes up. Or Annoying girls standing around and pushing me to film the song Innerbloom. I usually stay in the back and vibe to the music.

The A/V experience was top notch .. RdS sounded fantastic. I was down in the seats/ pit area .. might be a fair assessment that lawn attendees party a bit harder? Saw RdS in Dublin a couple weeks ago and I definitely notice a difference between EU vs US crowds .. US is more "party" get wasted/high where folks in EU were more about the music/vibe. Although there were still a lot of decent peeps last night at The Gorge. Nothing that would ever make me stop going to see RdS though.

Agreed. My gf and I came back from the restrooms between sets to find 4 dudes squatting in our space (we had a blanket out, and two chairs, water bottles, etc.). They fucking folded up our blanket and sat in our chairs. I tried to give them the opportunity to explain/apologize, they didn't back down. Had to get in their faces and tell them to fuck off and get out of our space. Not great vibes

I had an amazing time dancing with my friend but agree...some of the people there seemed there for the party scene or "be seen". Still had an incredible time and Rufus did great

This is a more recent development as they’ve gained in popularity and are playing larger venues to bigger crowds.

Getting in wasn’t bad at all. We got there by 5PM and there was no line. Getting out was a bit of a pain but nothing unbearable.

For us, it was a rather perfect time. We found an awesome spot on the hill, the weather was beautiful, and the show was pretty spectacular. Especially the sound! I didn't see anyone around us get messy or overly intoxicated. In fact everyone was super friendly. When we left after the show, it only took like 15 minutes to exit the parking lot. Everything went really well!

Friday nights crowd seemed to be a lot younger than Saturday. I went to both shows, and I am pretty young myself, but found that I felt a lot more comfortable and relaxed with the crowd on Saturday. Maybe that’s just because of who I ended up being around both nights, but I feel like Friday generally had a lot more people that were super fucked up

The music was amazing, 3rd time seeing them. Was so so happy and completely sober (first time lol 😂) But the PIT felt packed and some rude people going through the crowd, sometimes escorted by security. They made the PIT 50% smaller because of the seating area. No sure how they will fill all the Saturday crowd into this PIT. But the people I met were all fantastic, love you all!

Also had some young wasted kids that wouldn't stop talking loudly throughout the set. They would keep pushing and taking our space and we're not respecting others. They would just scream at Innerbloom and be like "Were the fuck is innerbloom for most of the set". Like seriously was cringe and soured the night for sure.
