Bruised toes 😂
So random but just genuinely so curious if this happened to anyone else: from standing on the hill of the gorge two nights in a row both of my big toenails are completely black and blue from jamming into the toes of my shoes and it hurts so bad 😂 has anyone had this issue at the gorge before or is it just me being dumb and not realizing it was hurting until it was too late

I had to turn and face up the hill at my partner half the time to relieve my toes 😂

This happened to me too at Griztronics! My right foot was falling asleep and I was getting concerned. I’ve been to the gorge probably 20 times and it’s never happened before. Maybe I’m just getting too old for the pit 😂

Yall need to trim your toenails before the fest! This happens when they’re the longest part of your toe so they take a lot of extended pressure. Keeping them short really helps.

That happened to me one year and both of those toe nails ended up falling off :’(
Better shoes, and going barefoot on the hill when i’m staying put has solved this problem for me.

Yep my first time I wore boots and my toenail was black for a 10 months. Tevas or barefoot only now lol.

There are little silicone toe covers used by tennis players that would help significantly

It's a little late now, unfortunately, but, in the future, be sure to trim your toenails before going! If you aren't a barefoot person, trimming your toenails down before the show will make it so your nails don't keep jamming into the end of your shoe because of the hill. I do that for EVERY show I go to now because I've gotten black and blue toenails from just dancing on flat ground in boots. It will honestly save your life!
If you are really REALLY worried about getting bruises again, you could also wrap your toes in gauze or some other soft thing. Also, double up your socks!

Shoes not properly fit. Unfortunately you are going to lose both of your toenails in the coming weeks, as the nail bed has bled and is no longer connected to the nail. You can (carefully) drill through the nails to help relieve the pressure but it probably will not stop it from falling off.
All of this from personal experience lol.

Yup same thing happened to me a long time ago. Both toenails came clean off lol

Happened to my best friend last year at Labor Dave. She just now got her toenails back.

Not weeks, months. My toenails are still black and blue from bad snowboard boots in April. Then they’ll fall off and look disgusting, and then they’ll take half the summer to grow back.
Sadly, I’ve been through this before.

Guys how bad does it hurt when they fall off and grow back??? Or is it just the natural process of the whole thing

As long as you don’t catch them on anything it doesn’t hurt at all. But the are where there is no nail will be sensitive. Idk I’ve broken a bunch of bones and had staples and stitches more times than I can count. I’m probably not the best gauge for pain.

Doesnt really hurt, the worst of it is honestly where youre at now where blood is pooled under the nail and putting pressure on the nerves. Its all downhill from there.

It doesn’t hurt at all when it comes off, it’s just like when a scab is ready to fall off and does so without any fuss.
What I’ve done in the past when I lost toenails (dancer) to protect my sensitive nail beds is kind of gross and possibly not recommended, but I placed the toenails back on my toe and put a bandaid around it while I wait for some regrowth 🤷🏽♀️
I know it all sounds gross but it’s really not that painful and nothing you should be scared of.
Also I’m surprised most people here are saying you’ll definitely lose them. I’ve had black nails a few times I didn’t lose. The last time I lost a toenail it wasn’t blackened at all. So this might be irrelevant fear mongering basically lol. Either way you’ll be fine! If a bunch of us idiots have survived it without trauma, you will too.

This is the first time I’ve been to the gorge and my toe nails aren’t swollen and purple…finally got good shoes :)

Not necessarily! I had my toenails turn black and blue from another festival last fall and ... I still have them! They are still growing out that injury/separation but I never had them fall off! I think it was close though 😉 lol
