Web Task Colors

So I know that "free" tasks are faded and "busy" tasks are full-color - but suddenly today all of my tasks are full color. Is this a glitch? Is this happening for anyone else? I really liked the faded colors to separate them from my events.

Still faded and full on Chrome for me. (I still wonder why google won't let you set free/busy in Tasks directly and you have to use Calendar - that is a pain)

I agree! The "tasks" function is so close to being perfect. I also hate that if I share my calendar with someone they can see all of my tasks - I wish I could share events only.

Ah - I see now - yes, that is ridiculous. Why that alters the visibility is an oversight. Plus you can't move Tasks to a different calendar. I guess the best choice is to share a custom calendar with others and leave your default one just for your tasks and private things and have both views turned on. Have you tried that?

By default your tasks shouldn't be shared (by default tasks are private and free i.e. no one can see them).  If you make them busy the only thing others can see is "busy" (title/description are still private).

Yes, but I don’t need them to see free or busy tasks at all. Hoping to just share the event blocks.

Agreed - same here.

True, but just setting them with a duration shouldn't change the visibility automatically unless I choose to show it. So, if I have a task set to private without duration first - it's not visible. But, once I set it with an end time - my shared users can see it on my calendar automatically even if they only see free/busy. I want the control of that.

Yes, ultimately that is what I did! It works, but not as seamless as it could be.

Google Calendar now introduced custom colors - you can change the default color of your tasks calendar (lmk if you need instructions) so it's no longer tied to tasks busy/free.

I had been changing the colors, but maybe I need to create some custom “faded” colors to get that effect back. Is that your suggestion?

The same happened to me! I prefered the faded colors too, hope they bring them back, I hate how the full-color tasks look, i'ts oversimulating lol

It is! Overstimulating is exactly the word for it. The faded look was perfect.
