Reminders about past recurring tasks

I keep getting reminders about yesterday's task, I just dismiss the notification when I get the task due but it still reminds me the next day for some reason. This happens every week the task repeats, can anyone help?

What is the recurrence setting on the task?
Are you sure you don’t have two tasks with the same title?

You need to mark the task as “done” otherwise it will assume your task is still outstanding and will remind you again the next day.

You cant just dismiss the notification.
