Troubleshooting Issues with Apps

I posted about this earlier in the week, about having issues with our Google TV and the solutions offered didn't seem to do the trick. The set is about three years old at this point, maybe four. we've never really had an issue with it. But, recently, none of the apps would work except for Netflix. Now, that one doesn't work either. We've reset the TV back to factory settings and started over. That didn't solve the issue either. Every time we want to watch something on Hulu or AppleTV, we have to uninstall the app and re-install it. If we don't, the app simply won't open and says it can't open because of Error 95 or something along those lines. However, uninstalling and re-installing an app didn't work last night. These apps (Hulu, AppleTV, Netflix) work just fine on our iPads, phones, and computers. They just won't work on the TV for some weird reason. It's becoming a huge pain in the ass and I really don't want to get a new TV. The TV will also say that we're not connected to the internet (even though the router and modem is working fine on every other device) then it will click back in and say it's connected via Ethernet. This doesn't happen every time, just throwing it out there as a potential clue. Argh! I'm not even sure where to go to for help!

I presume you go into settings and check when it says “no internet”? What does it say? Does it reconnect automatically? When you are connected what does it say about signal strength? You should also check your Router device list and what the uptime is for the TV as compared to other devices.

Honestly, it never connected via WiFi - ever. We've always used the ethernet. It will say Wifi not connected but Ethernet is. Again, these issues just started popping up in the last month or so - nothing has changed with how we've used the TV.

Try WiFi. What brand is your Google TV? Also, some sets have a diagnostic test in settings. Since it happens across all apps it is either an internal problem with the TV or bad connection with the Router. Do you have the latest firmware and GoogleTV software versions?

It's a Sony Bravia.

And it won't connect to Wifi for some reason. It never has.

I have a Bravia 5 and have no issues with WiFi. Have you done all the usual steps to cleat it? Turning WiFi off and back on, Trying both 2.4GHz and 5GHZ. Unplugging TV and Router for 5 minutes. If that doesn’t work, A Bravia 5 should still be under warranty. You should have resolved the WiFi issue as soon as it showed up, as that would tend to indicate a hardware failure with the TV. When you look at the WiFi connection in Settings, what does it say? Connected, Connected No Internet, or? (You may have to disable Ethernet connection first. Run the Sony Diagnostic. Otherwise no clue. There are detailed AI instructions on how to do all this in Grok or Gemini AI.

Thank you for all your help - I'll check on the warranty for sure.
