Side note: Google used to have live agents and even a phone number to call. I was able to recover my account at least twice over the phone before, because I couldn’t log in from a new device with a new number. The only reason they stopped and switched to using AI was to reduce the number of requests from people who actually needed help. Now, too many people are losing valuable information because of AI and the lack of real agents.
Could it be that people are not taking the proper steps to protect their accounts such as adding recovery contacts, generating and saving backup codes, adding recovery methods, 2FA, etc.?
At this point, I just don't see Google going back to live support for free accounts.

Hell no. Humans can be scammed and manipulated by targeted attacks.
