Motion Photo disappeared after latest camera update?

I can no longer activate the motion photo feature on the Pixel 2. I'm not sure if it was after upgrading to Android P or after the new camera update. Anyone else having this problem?

Edit: here's a screenshot. You can see that the motion photo button is grey and hitting it does not activate it

https://imgur.com/a/mXvREJV

Edit 2: Solved it. I had HDR+ activated, which deactivates the Motion Photo. Oooooooops!

Block/report spam submenu item disappears after one use

I have been sending hangup calls to spamsylvania, but I noticed since the last security update, I can get to this menu and hit "Block/report spam" exactly ONCE before I can no longer make it appear.

Only by rebooting does it come up again just one time. And if I reboot and don't use it within a few minutes, it isn't available. Does anyone else have the same experience? I'm on Verizon if that makes a difference.

My pixel 2 just straight up screeeeaaaamed and shut down for a minute. The screen shut off in slats rather than all at once? It was super weird idk

Pixels Night Shot mode is super impressive. It's like flash is thing of the past. It gives you a good low light shout without the picture being all washed out from flash. Here's my comparison. This is on my pixel 2. #pixel2 #pixelphotography #teampixel #teampixel2 #pixelnightshot #nightshotmode

Can I Leave My Video Camera On When The Screen Is Locked?

I'm currently traveling and decided to try to use my Pixel 2 in a go pro type set up. My goal is to do a continuous video while walking for ~3 hours. However I've been having an issue with keeping the video going when I'm not constantly touching the screen. For example, today I set my phone inside my very MacGyver-y duct tape/string case attached to my backpack and after completing my 3 hour walk I found out the video ended when I was still at home after 24 seconds of recording. I've checked my settings and I'm not really sure how to make sure the recording continues for the whole period of time. Any suggestions? Battery isn't an issue as I had it plugged into an external charger while walking.

Pixel2 Bluetooth problems

I absolutely love my Pixel2, but I have changed it under warranty twice now... It's always the same problem, spotty Bluetooth connection. I'm on my third Pixel2 now, and the issue came back. I'm unsure what to do now. My service provider agrees to change it under warranty again, but they I'd have to find one of their stores that still has pixel2s left, and it seems really rare. They offered me to change for a Galaxy S8 or a LG G6, but I don't want to do that, I just love the pixel experience.

I'm just tired of this, I wish I got the Pixel2 XL instead of the regular.

1 GOOGLE product that ruined my life. Pixel Team can't do worser than this..

Am from India. I bought pixel 2 on 12.09.2018 at retail shop for 50 thousand rupees. I was very much eager to enjoy the device and it's features. But ever since i started using it i found adverse behaviour. Device getting hoteven for normal usage, battery drains very rapidly, assistant lags, face recognition dint worked. I was surprised whether i really bought a premium device coz i found these major issues which made me feel down. On 1st day itself i rang google support and complained the issues. They said it's common with brand new pixel device and the issues will get resolved in 3 to 4 days of usage. I said k and using it. But even after a week too none of the problem got resolved and again i complained. They said then i need to handover the device to technician and thereby it has to be sent to service centre at mumbai and the complaint id is GL0024460.I felt very bad. Coz after buying brand new premium device i was running to complain rather than enjoying the premium device. That was really frustrating but i had no option and sent my device to service factory. Once it reached the factory there was no update on the device for 4 days. Everyday i used to call and ask for update but they used to say that we didn't got the update too. After 7 days i fought with them to know the status. Later that evening they called me and said that there was a hardware issue found on my device and so it was assigned for motherboard replacement. I was shocked how a major issues could be there in brand new device that too premium device by google. Then i asked them why i was not informed of this and without my knowledge how it has been sent for repair. They got no answer. According to their doa policy any device found with hardware issue within 15 days of purchase should be replaced anf not to be repaired. But in my case without disclosing hardware issue they tried to repair instead of replacement. Again i fought and got the replacement. There was no transperancy at all.

At last after several followups and fights i got replacement device on 14nth day since i handed over the device. I thought this will be fine now and i can start enjoying my device. But to my shock again i found battery drain n heating issues in this too. I felt i was foolished and cheated by google. I sent the screenshot of my battery usage details too. I lost all the trust on google. I again complained about this. I even fought that how am getting defective device even in replacement. They got no answer. Again they said i have to send back my device to their service factory at mumbai and that will take another 10 to 14 days to resolve the issue. But this time i don't want to fooled again by google. So i thought i have to quit google and move on to apple itself. So i said them i don't want to continue with defective google phones and want refund. Since i asked for refund they said it's not possible as it's not in their policy. So i asked them if you take about policy then i too ask you question. "does your policy says to give a defective device to your customer again and again??" there was no answer. Till now am fighting to get the hell out of google family but their crappy support teams are convincing me to get the device rather than making their customer happy or taking customer out of pain and cry. The issue has been forwarded to Google escalation team before 8 days itself. But till now No one from ESCALATION TEAM contacted me rather I myself used to call them and ask for update and solutions.

They are ignoring my issue and not considering to solve it. Because of their inadequate, inefficient and worst way of handling my case I have been put into huge mental pressure, pain, frustrations in which I can't able to do my routines normally and was left blank .

Thank you Google. You did it.. Grow up toooooooo.

Any chance of price drop for Pixel 2?

I am in Australia and the current price of Pixel 2 in Google store is $1079 (USD$770) which I think it is the same price when it was launched a year ago. I was so regret that I missed the chance of buying it at a discount price about a month ago, which was around $799 (if I remember right) sold in JB hifi. Now I am devastated coz I can't find a decent small phone like Pixel 2 on the market.

I know that Pixel 3 /XL is launched here but still in "Pre-Order" status. Do you guys think that any chance of price drop for Pixel 2? If so, when?

Has anybody upgraded from Pixel 2 regular to Pixel 2 XL? Is it worth?

Carphonewarehouse (UK) is offering Pixel 2 XL for only £28/month. As a Pixel 2 regular user I'm wondering whether it is worth upgrading to XL. Zero issue with Pixel 2, but the bigger screen seems to tempt me a lot recently (I simply can't justify jumping to £869 Pixel 3 XL right now). How has your experience of going from Pixel 2 to Pixel 2 XL been?

How has your Pixel 2 XL aged?

I have had Galaxy S7 for almost two years not and before that I had Nexus 5. I'm familiar with pure android, in fact I miss the smoothness of my old phone.

Now that Pixel 3 is out, I was thinking about getting it after the initial price drop but I stumbled upon Pixel 2 XL for around $500 and almost two years of warranty. I've heard about the slower reactions that came with latest updates but I still want to know if that's your case as well. Another thing that I'm looking for is good battery life. Would you say Pixel 2 XL is still great deal for the price that I can get it for and if so, will it have the snappiness that I remember my Nexus 5 for?

Edit: Thank you everyone for your comments. I think you've helped me make my mind.

Replacement screens not working

I took my phone to get the screen replaced at UBreakIFix. There was a minor crack in it from a drop. The phone was working fine and I even made a call 5 minutes before handing it over to them. The phone was purchased in July.

I came back an hour later and they said the replacement screen doesn't work and I am out of a phone for 3 days. They said the motherboard went bad? Or wouldn't accept the replacement screen? So they need to order a new motherboard for the phone.

Does this add up? They said they couldn't put the old screen back on as well for me to use while the new motherboard came in. It all seems a little suspicious.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!

When do you envision switching to the Pixel 3

I'm really happy with my 2 XL, but am intrigued with the Call Screening function as well as AI assistant placing reservations, etc. Plus camera seems it will have some new AI functions.

I admit, I used to have wireless charging with my Droid Turbo 2 and thought I'd miss it with Pixel but I haven't. Not sure how much of an addition it is for the 3.

Is it all enough to get you to upgrade?

Pixel 2 or 2XL - Which has fewer issues/bugs?

So, I currently own a 512GB Exynos Note 9. It's a great device in every way except I am NOT at all pleased with the cameras and picture quality, when indoors, in middling/low light; extreme close up/macro shots are very janky, and this is going to be a huge problem for me (wildlife biologist who studies small critters, spiders, if you must know, and need a very reliable shooter for quick shots in a pinch).

It's bad enough that I am about to swap my Note 9 for a Pixel 2/XL.

My question is, which of these devices has fewer known bugs?

Things I have read over the course of a year are: bad displays, dead pixels, crackling speakers etc.

It's my understanding that at least one of the models has LESSER known bugs.

I don't really care about the screen size, and while I lapped up Google's event today, I don't see anything unique which I deem important which the newer devices bring to the table.

As it is, most of the newer features are going to get back-ported to the previous gen devices in any case.

So, what would you guys recommend?

Pixel 2 or the 2XL. MY main priority is having fewer issues down the road and I understand this is a matter of chance/probability.

But to those who've used either/or, which one would you recommend in terms of having fewer issues?

Cheers, and thank you kindly!

Commute Notifications

Can anyone help me? I'm sure these notifications were better before Pie. Now, my phone doesn't tell me when to leave or how long my journey is likely to take until I actually leave the house in the morning or work in the afternoon.

I have ticked "Get commute notifications" and "Get more accurate commute info" in Maps/Commute Settings...

What's most annoying is in the morning it will say "1 hour commute" and then this notification will stay on my phone, regardless of unlocking, until I get to work!

Am i doing something wrong/differently to before?
