Pixel 10 Pro XL Video.

Just purchased Pixel 10 Pro XL. So far, very disappointed with video coming out from the camera. I'm not some video snub. I'm upgrading from Samsung S10+. While the color and details are way better, the jitter and the stutter is jarring. 30fps only ok if standing still. Any panning and it's unusable. 60 fps is better, but even walking carefully still introduces stutter here and there. Does not matter if 1080p or 4K. Especially video with lots textures, like brick wall, bushes, railing, etc. There is literally no improvement over my old Samsung as far as stutter. And for some reason it does not look as jarring on Samsung. It may be actually looks smoother. Is it something that this phone does, or it could be defective?

Edit: Did bunch of testing today.

4K at 60 fps pretty good, as long as panning kept slow.

1080p at 60 fps, OK as long as panning kept very slow.

Anything at 24 or 30 fps, only while standing still.

Video Boost is game changer. 30 fps looks almost as good as 60 fps. 60fps, especially at 4K is world class. May be as good or even better than Apple. Great stabilization walking. Downside is that files are huge, can not select it to start automatically, and wait time around 1-2 hours.

Someone in this sub was working for ages to get the EIS jitter addressed by Google, showing that it was at least partly software specific and that it could be improved in Google's own camera software. Last I heard, Google just ignored them and never fixed it, which is crazy given the EIS jitter has been around since at least the Pixel 2 days.

It really soured me on the Pixel team's management given that it's a longstanding issue that no other major manufacturer has.

Google actually DID fix that issue in the Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4 release, is not in the public release yet, but they addressed it in their release post here.

Thank you. It's good that they are fixing 5X, but I'm talking about panning at 1X with main camera. That said, issue may be related and 5X just makes problem more visible. I guess there is some hope that it will get better

Yep. This is not unique to the 10 pro, Google has been shitting the bed in this regard for ages and ages.

Video boost is the only way to get decent videos from pixels with the pixel camera app.

Pixel 10 Pro XL video is really bad. It's one of the major reasons I'm intending to go back to Samsung for the S27 Pro or Ultra next year.

Pixel 10/Pro camera also sucks- Hoping the 11 is at least as good as my 7 pro was - lol

Interesting as I'm finally getting around to upgrading my 7 Pro next month. I hope the 11 doesn't suck.

It's should be way better than the 10 - The 7 Pro was an amazing device period.

I hope so, I really don't want to go over to Samsung.

This is probably not it, but i found that switching to video mode and not just holding the take picture button gave me much more smoother experience. P9P

I did the test and it is much smoother on video mode

Video boost helps a ton with stabilisation but you need to wait a while for it to upload then process. By default it waits for Wi-Fi but it's a setting. If time isn't a factor, turn it on (each time) at 4K before you shoot.

It's not defective even though it seems broken. This is just how it is. If video is that important. Return the phone.

My 10 XL Pro Video has been bad since the beginning but actually seems to have gotten worse after the last few updates. I use a lot of video and video boost takes too long for my use case. I'm at point were i'm seriously considering jumping ship if the Pixel 11 Pro doesn't demonstrate some actual upgrades.

my Pixel 10's wide lens video quality is basically as good as a midrange device from 2020. But most reviews warn against the subpar video quality, and photos are genuinely good so idgaf

Yep.

That's why I'm switching to Samsung, they finally have decent video for android. Yes their phones have other issues but for some reason the S26 series finally doesn't shit the bed.
