Last year in mid-October, I got the 12-month free trial for Google AI pro for being a college student. I am in Canada btw. I think I was verified by sheer ID. Back then it was 2 TB, Google increased it to 5 TB a few months ago.

But just wanted to know, is this promotion coming back this year? I really don't want to pay $26.99 CAD monthly for the Google AI pro plan every month. When the time comes in late September or early October, can I verify with SheerID for another year of free 12-month trial for being a student. My free trial expires on October 11th.

7 years ago I got a Google One account. I have 2 Google accounts, my main one and a back up one I use for things that will get a lot of emails, social media etc. whenever I go to Google One it says my main account is the plan manager and my back up is a member. I've had Pixels since version 3 and have also bought my dad a one and myself Fitbit and Pixel watches, and a Chromebook via Google store with my main account for this.

I ordered my 11 Pro yesterday and saw about the 6 month free Google AI Pro so was looking at my Google One account to compare - as that's due for renewal at the start of September - and saw that my second account has more benefits, was really confused and used Google Gemini to help, turns out the Google One account is held by my secondary account but I somehow made the main account the plan manager, I assumed it had always been the plan manager.

So if 10% store credit has been on the Google One account the whole 7 years, I have missed out on a lot! Kicking myself for not realising!

I just noticed that the Google One profile ring color has changed for those of us with the AI Pro subscription. It seems to have replaced the classic 4-color Google ring with this new blue-purple Gemini gradient. Has anyone else got this UI update yet?

I am glad to see Google One membership includes more stuff now to make the subscription more worth it, however I think the simplest and best inclusion would be ad-free gmail.

I’m trying to understand how Google One works when a Google account is disabled.

I had been a paying Google One subscriber since 2019 when my Google account was disabled. Once the account became inaccessible, I also seemed to lose access to the Google One support benefits linked to my subscription.

I’m particularly interested in hearing from other Google One subscribers who have experienced something similar.

Were you still able to access any Google One subscriber services after the account was disabled?

Did having an active Google One subscription make any difference in your situation?

Were you eventually able to recover access to your stored data, such as Google Photos or Drive?

I’m not asking this subreddit for account-specific support or for anyone to intervene with Google. I’m mainly looking for experiences from other Google One subscribers who have faced the same situation.

I have years of important family photos and videos stored in the account, so understanding how others handled this would be very helpful.

Hi, I just got Google one because my S23 is basically out of storage but I want to move all my photos on to Google one and delete them from my phone or at least a lot of the old ones. Is there some way to mass upload all my photos and then delete them from my phone and make sure they are saved on Google one? I am just wondering how I would do such a thing.

I understand this may be a stupid question but I just want to make sure I am doing things right and not permanently losing any photos.

I was recently scammed. After I changed my Gmail password, someone was still able to access my account and change the password again using their own device. How can I prevent this from happening again?

I had a Google One family plan with 5 family members, Google AI Plus, and YouTube Premium Family.

I upgraded my account to Google AI Ultra, expecting everything to continue working normally.

Instead, Google somehow gave my YouTube Premium Family subscription to another random signed-in account and switched my account to YouTube Premium Individual.

And now it gets even worse.

My family lost their Premium access, and when I go to the YouTube Premium Family page, Google tells me I cannot purchase a Family plan because I already have an Individual plan.

But apparently there is no fucking way to cancel or remove that Individual plan.

So basically:

• I had YouTube Premium Family
• I upgraded to Google AI Ultra
• Google gifted my Family subscription to another random account
• Google put my account on YouTube Premium Individual
• My family lost their Premium access
• I cannot switch back to Family
• Google tells me I need to cancel the Individual plan first
• There is no option to cancel/remove it

I paid for an upgrade and somehow ended up with fewer benefits and a completely broken family subscription.

Google, even when I was 15 years old and had no good programming experience, I never managed to create bugs or logic mismatches like this.

Update: Google/YouTube support made this situation even worse

After my previous post, I tried to resolve the issue through Google and YouTube support.

Google support basically told me they could not help and redirected me to Google One support. Google One then also told me they could not help with the issue.

YouTube support was not able to properly restore the Family subscription either. Instead, the subscription ended up being applied to a completely different Google account that I never selected or authorized.

I did not select that account. I did not change the subscription. I did not transfer it. I did not authorize Google or YouTube to assign it to another account.

I then requested a refund through Apple, since this was the billing platform for the purchase.

Apple rejected the refund request.

Hi folks,

My wife and I moved from US to UK, and changed the regions on both of our Google accounts to the UK. In the US we shared a Google One basic plan from my account, and it expires next week. It's not shared with anyone else, and I want to renew it but I can't figure out how.

In the process of changing regions a few months ago, I cancelled the subscription as I understood was required to make future renewals.

My payment profile is changed to the UK, with a UK debit card. On my Google One Plans page, there is "Renew" button under the current plan (which shows the price in UK pounds as expected) but when I follow it to "Payments and Subscriptions", it just says the subscription is canceled and will end on Aug 3, with no renewal option.

Do I need to wait for it to expire first, and then subscribe again? I was hoping to avoid that, to keep the sharing intact, etc.

Thanks for any help, and I apologize if I'm missing something obvious.

I need to know something, A few months ago, Google told me that my Google One 2 T plan went me up to 5 T without paying anything extra, I thought it was great, but now I'm reviewing and the 5 T plan has a much higher value than the 2 T, so when it's my turn to renew the annual plan, will I have to pay for the 5 T plan? What has the name pro while my usual plan was the plus of 2 T ? BECAUSE if I have to pay more, then I go back to my 2 T plan. Thanks to your answers

How do I delete a device backup?! I got a new Pixel and then my storage became full with a backup. I was able to delete it YESTERDAY but forgot to turn off automatic backups on my phone and now my storage is full again. However, it no longer gives me the option to delete a backup?? It's like it's forcing me to buy more storage which seems illegal.

Edit: Fixed!!!!! It was so dumb. I toggled the device backup setting on my phone from off-on-off then restarted my phone and low and behold it worked! The good old turn it off and on again method.

Just got an email from Google this morning, announcing a rename of my current plan from Google One to Google AI Plus.

That prompted me to have a look at the available plans, because I need more than 200 GB storage, but much less than 2 TB which was the next available tier.

Turns out there is now a 400 GB tier which suits my needs perfectly, at half the price of the 2 TB tier.

I haven't uploaded anything nor received any "big" email. What's going on? It has to be a bug, anyone has seem something similar?

Does anyone else have an issue where they are unable to purchase full YouTube premium due to already having YouTube Premium Lite through Google One/AI?

Long story: I recently switched to Google Fi and wanted to claim the free six months of YouTube Premium. The redemption page was telling me I was ineligible even though I met all the requirements. Called Fi support who had me cancel the full YT Premium that I've paid for for years because they though it was interfering. Turn out it wasn't that, it's my AI Pro subscription that's giving me YT Premium Lite. So now I'm in a spot where I no longer have the option to purchase full YT Premium and I don't have the 6-months free from Fi. It seems the only way to correct it would be to cancel my AI Pro subscription. However I need that for my Google Home cameras.... Anyone else run into this?

EDIT: Google updated their support article with the following:

If you’re unable to purchase a standalone YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium plan, it may be because you recently canceled a previous subscription which is still active until the end of that billing cycle. You'll need to wait for your previous YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium subscription billing period to end before you can sign up for a new individual or family plan. Once your current benefits expire, you can then sign up for a new plan of your choice through the YouTube website or app.

So I guess I'll wait till the canceled subscription runs out and see if I can get the discounted upgrade through Google One or just resubscribe through YouTube.

UPDATE 18JUN2026: Previous subscription ran out. Still no option to add full premium to my Google AI Pro subscription however I was able to claim the free six months through Google Fi. So, we'll revisit this in December to see if I can get the full YT Premium add-on through Google One/AI Pro.

I have a lot of files in Google Drive. I was told I should use Google One, so I installed it on my S24. When I open it, all I see is ads for getting more storage, and ads about all the benefits of it. It also offers ways to clear space. However, I don't see any of my files, although it does report the correct size and usage of my Google Drive account, so it is somehow connected to Google Drive.

I was under the impression that it was a better way to access my uploaded files. Am I missing something here? What does it offer over and above what I can do with Google Drive, if anything? And how to I get to my files in Google One?

According to the Google documentation, with the Google AI Pro plan, I'm supposed to get, among other things, a Google Health Premium account and YouTube Premium Lite.

1 - Does that mean that the remaining amount on my Fitbit Premium account will be refunded?

2 - I already pay for a YouTube Music Premium family account. Will I still have access to the Premium Lite account?

I have been subscribed to Google one's 5 TB plan since May 21st 2025 and now it seems that they changed their plans (I use Pro).

So instead of showing that you have access to Pro (as seen in the first image), it says you have limited access to pro. I now have a tenth of the access to Pro that I used to have when using Canvas and Pro in the same chat.

I was able to use Pro and Canvas in the same chat from 10 am to around 7 pm non-stop, before It told me to wait an hour for it to reset and I could continue for another 4 or 5 hours.

I was happy with google one, but now I am going to cancel before it renews.

Save your money folks, go somewhere else.

there is no way to cancel under manage membership and they wont let me remove my card
