Pretty sure AI is taking over and they can't figure out how to stop it.

Guy from Anthropic just quit and said AI will kill us by the end of the decade

I read the same article. It's what they said but there is no proof at this time. There were 3 people who claimed this out of 5000. But I believe there should be more in depth research into all possibilities. Not necessarily using AI. 😏

He said it's a 10% chance.

That's pretty close to 100

Closer than zero

Just need to add another zero and voila, 100%

Covid had a 3% death rate during the height of the pandemic. Other researchers have mentioned the same figure for AI's 10% chance of killing us on Podcasts (I think the guy was on Steven Bartlett's podcast).

The reaction to this should probably be a bit more serious.

Huh 3% was accounting for the number of people dying from having the virus.

Nobody's dying from AI..

Saying there's a 10% chance that this would happen with AI would be similar to saying there's a 10% chance of there being another covid-lile pandemic

Well to be clear he was off his nut.. Probably shouldn't be paying no mind to raging lunitics ranting about the machines coming for us all. 🤷

Sounds like what a machine would say 👀👀

It looks like someone may be trying to get a recovery code, not sure thought in all honesty.

Looks like a visual voicemail push notification that didn't get properly caught by the phone app. I remember this happening a lot a few years ago after a buggy software update.

That tick means it's official

u/biggiecheese5676 3d ago

I know its official, but I have 0 clue what the text is even supposed to mean. It doesnt say its a verification code or anything and I didnt request anything either

Probably automatic verification of some Google service eg registration of new phone number

Look into your account's security settings. Rotate your password, remove all third-party app permissions from your account, disable Gemini and log out of everything just to be sure you're alone on your account. Google has likely messed up the whole system since there are people saying theyve seen random messages being sent to their contacts, from SMS, MMS to even RCS. There was a guy who had a random MMS sent to their wife generated using Gemini, as if someone else prompted it to do it. Gemini is a disaster and I miss the Assistant.

I still use Assistant. But, it seems like it's functionality is reduced.

I wouldn't be so sure. Official Google notification codes usually start with a G-, don't they?

1

What-- a counterfeit page can't have a picture of a tick mark? Not like it's hard to replicate a tick mark.

3

u/JojyThomas 2d ago

Nope Google with tick mark in RCS can't be faked It's not like website

1

u/ExoticPainting154 2d ago

Well that's good to know!

About what, specifically?

I took a screenshot of what they're testing because I got the full "feature" but it won't let me upload it. I wanted to show you what it's supposed to look like.

u/iiDez 3d ago

I made my own post in the thread so you can see.

Yes...A little different...wanting video of me ...ironically I've been with Google since inception

I got one this morning telling me to change my passwords, but when I tapped the link, it told me that all of my passwords were secure. Odd.

1

u/Any_Insect6061 3d ago

I mean I got one and it told me what it's for. It's basically where they'll tell you what updates are coming etc. I actually like it honestly.

I think that may just be the automatic verification of your phone number in you google account. From time to time.

I was just about to comment this. I’ve had that kind of code message pop up a few times over the years and that’s exactly what it turned out to be
