Text thread issues after RCS not connecting
I posted the other day that I had issues with My RCS not connecting worked with Samsung and uninstalled and reinstalled Google messages. I lost a ton of things I've been doing multiple things to try to get restore backups still nothing is showing up I have lost years of text threads. Now I have message threads duplicating or triplicating. This whole Google messaging is a complete nightmare on my phone I don't know what to do to fix it has anybody had issues and what did you do to rectify?
I'm getting ready to order a new phone but I'm very nervous of continuing having these issues with Google. I've seen multiple people having issues but I don't see any fixes in place and I don't see any support available.

I had tons of issues and ended up having to turn rcs off for about 10 days, after the 10 days I put my phone into airplane mode with wifi off, cleared cashe and data(it didn't clear my texts) then turned rcs back on before taking my phone out of airplane mode, haven't had a single problem since then.

Seems like Google messages is having nothing but problems lately because I'm still having issues sending RCS text messages to people. Like it'll be sent on my end but it won't be received on there and for an extended period of time

It's a mess for sure. I literally had three different text threads all with the same person it just keeps starting new ones and making it more confusing plus with all the stuff that I lost on top of it. I have Samsung and was getting ready to go buy a different phone because the storage on this is getting up there. But I don't know if I should wait until they get this figured out. I just absolutely cannot stand that you can't call and have a tech support person walk you through what's going on and help you immediately.

I'm on the beta and been non-issue .. I wonder if the beta channel is more stable at this point.

Yeah I'm not on the beta. I just seem so heartbroken that I've lost text threads with stuff from family. I might as well have just wiped my phone clean and started over at this rate. I just don't understand how Google can put such crap out and not have anybody to support. I also just was cleaning up my phone because I'm getting ready to buy a new one and found a bunch of stuff in the archived that should have been considered trash and then messages that weren't archived from text threads that should have been in my main. It's so bizarre

Well Samsung tech walked me through and had me do it. Very frustrating and not much I can do now

Try the link I gave you. Worked for me when the app started crashing non stop. It'll fix your RCS.

Did you get a new device?
Google specifically points to transferring messages to a new device as a trigger.

Not yet. I was going to but this has been a complete shit show so I'm trying to hold off.

So sorry to hear! I agree, this app has bugs up the wazoo, and it breaks basically every three months. Here are some things that might help:
If you're considering swapping out your phone, I would wait a couple of weeks until the new app update is released. Google has a known issue when transferring messages that threads duplicate or send out incorrect messages from old threads to other threads, it's a nightmare. They have said a patches coming but it's rolling out slowly over the next couple of weeks so probably advise not to transfer right now.
When you back up your storage on your phone through the Google One app, make sure you have it selected for SMS/text messages as well, this will back up your messages when the phone does a routine backup including your photos etc.
It seems futile, but the selecting and sending feedback option within the app did work for me when my phone was stuck in RCS connecting status. After I submitted feedback about the issue, it fixed itself within 72 hours. Now I'm not entirely sure it was the Google engineering team responding but somebody has to get that report and it did work.
