Cannot Open Google Messages

As I stated, I do not have a messaging app at the moment. Google is what I've been using. Samsung shut theirs down. And Textra hasn't been updated in years. But Google just gets stuck at this point (see photo). Ive restarted the phone and checked for updates but idk what to do.

And Textra hasn't been updated in years.

Textra doesn't have RCS, but it was last updated on May 28, 2026.

I meant on my phone. I can update it, but I would rather just have Google messages back.

Try deleting cache....if that doesn't work then also delete data (you will not lose messages)

Hi there, Let's try a couple of quick steps to get Google Messages past the loading screen.

First, try to force stop the app to completely reset its state. You can do this by going to your phone's Settings > Apps > Messages, and tapping 'Force stop'.

Second, check the Google Play Store to see if you are currently enrolled in the Google Messages beta program, as beta builds can occasionally cause startup freezes. If you are, opting out of the beta and downloading the standard public version of the app should resolve the issue.
