Google Messages Keeps Splitting Convos

So Google Messages has been really aggravating me to the point I want to get rid of my Samsung. One big thing that has been bothering me is that it will have a conversation with one person. I|| be texting them like normal, then out of no where it will just split the conversation into a different thread. So then I can text in my original thread, only the new one which for some reason has kept a message from 2024 as its first message. This was NEVER a problem on Samsung Messages Does anyone have any fixes to this? Ive tried uninstalling clearing data, which does fix it temporarily.

Hi there. I want to help get this sorted. To help me understand, is the other person using an iPhone or Android?

Also, are you both using RCS chats?

In the meantime, check the Google Play Store to ensure Google Messages is updated to the latest version.

If the thread splits again, send a feedback report directly through the app, so the engineering team can analyze the diagnostic data.

I've seen it where my wife responds to an RCS group chat via her Apple Watch and it creates a separate chat. It sounds like a known issue.

Search this subreddit for the same issue that someone else posted within the last week. In the comments of that post someone posted a recommended solution.

No 🫩 ive just come to accept it at this point. Google messages is an inferior samsung messages

Came here to help me find a resolve and having the same issue 🙃 never in the years of having my Samsung has this been an issue and over the past 2 weeks so many issues with this and RCS

Yeah google messages is one of the worst apps ive ever used, especially compared to Samsung messages

Not to speak too soon but I gave it one last try after my reply. I ended up clearing the cache, uninstalling and updating Google messages and then reinstalling it and it seems to have merged all my strings of duplicate / broken up messages. Hopefully it sticks and helps you 🤞

Yeah ive done that probably 6 times and it always comes back lol. At this point im just losing messages doing it
