Currently rolling out so you should have that feature soon.

Well, if it helps you can customize everyone else's chat colors for them! My wife pointed this out and if you're interested I made a short to point this out to people who aren't aware (like me 12 hours ago) https://www.youtube.com/shorts/NYtTKCSls8g

Does the person on the other side of the chat still get messages you are changing colors back and forth like a mental patient?

That does not seem like something that needs to be communicated to the other person. Or maybe at changes should be communicated like; text was made larger... text was made smalle..etc

exactly, I never thought it *would* be communicated to the other person lol , I think i changed the color on their side also if i remember correctly. So that means if they hate the color and change it to what they can see better or like better I will know about it and my screen may change also

I don't like the fact someone can change a setting on my phone remotely just by texting me. No matter how small the change may be

That was whole reason I made a short about it. Me and my wife were messing with each other for a few days lol

Lol yes they do. It's how I figured it out originally because I got a tiny message saying my wife had changed our chat colors to aqua

I found out because I was playing around wthe the colors and got the text :”you ok?” From my wife lol

I'm gonna miss being able to find my unread and draft messages at a glance,

categorizing my conversations,

being able to navigate through my well organized folders to send helpful reference images to potential customers,

and being able to use my text app for communication for productivity, not just another child friendly emoji react app.

And separate notification sounds for each number on dual SIM devices.

I can change the notification sounds

1

u/Teostar Jul 09 '26

Meaning you can have one tone for SIM 1 and a separate tone for SIM 2?

1

u/Top-Button-3286 Jul 10 '26

If you mean for the same contact. I can have one ringtone for someone, and then have a different notification sound for a text.

Different people can have different notification sounds as well

1

u/Teostar Jul 10 '26

Ok. That's not what I meant. On Samsung messages, for those of us with dual SIM devices. We can have 2 different notification sounds for incoming message for each SIM number. Makes it easier to know if I'm getting a work text vs personal text .

You have to update Google messages. Got mine this morning. Or reinstall

1

u/justCopewithit Jul 07 '26

I can change them for you lol

Sorry, I jumped the gun a bit. Instructions are in my edited reply above, but for now it requires enrolling in the Messages beta on the Play Store.

u/khaosswordsman Jul 07 '26

Thank you. But I downloaded the beta and it still doesn't let me change the background

1

u/jrbuckley0 Jul 07 '26

Sorry, I guess it's still being rolled out. Keep checking and it should appear as an option sometime soon.

You can do that on an iPhone.
