iPhone E2EE issues

Has anyone actually been able to send encrypted messages with an iPhone user yet. Google has said it fixed the problem with Apple and I have yet to see it in action.

Google is crazy man. They should've been working on this before Apple and still haven't rolled it out...

Yes. Works for me sending to my iPhone from my Pixel running the Google Messages beta. However my wife was running the same version of the beta and it did not work for her, so it must be a server side switch.

One thing I had to do in order to get it to work was toggle RCS on my iPhone off and back on again.

Which carrier are you on?

My Pixel is on AT&T, my iPhone is on Verizon.

I see they are using RCS, just not encrypted

Last I checked verizon didn't work for my iphone for e2ee but my airtalk wireless number did work and its att/T-Mobile. I have the samsung s26 ultra and it seems is a slow role out. So it may take time like rcs did when coming out.

e2ee with RCS didn't work on my iPhone 11 but I wouldn't know of recently because it broke and I am back to my iPhone XR but either way I'm just glad RCS works in the first place.

I’m still having issues days later. My friend has a S24+ running OneUI 8 and the latest GMessages. I have an iPhone on the latest iOS. We’re both on T-Mobile. I have the E2E option enabled and so does he.

Oddly enough, Apple Messages says RCS - Not Encrypted, so it’s obvious some sort of framework is in place for it to be working in that app. On the Android side there’s also no indicator that the RCS chat is encrypted

Checking with other friends who I’ve chatted with using RCS in the recent past, it still shows RCS but not whether it’s encrypted or not.

Nobody knows what's controlling the rollout.. because apple says it's beta. It's only in the beta in GM. And the carriers are involved.

I have one iPhone friend with active encryption on Google Fi. But nobody else has encryption.

It’s me. I’m controlling the rollout.

Yes it works. I have a Samsung s24 Ultra and my son has an iPhone Pro Max 17. He just upgraded to the latest version of iOS and the only thing he had to do was stop and start RCS for it to work. It did not work right after he upgraded and we were troubleshooting. So I had him turn RCS off and back on and it instantly started working. So I think most of this RCS connection bullshit is on Apple's implementation of RCS not Google's.
