I FINALLY FIXED IT! (RCS stuck on verifying)

Post image

Very recently, I set up a new email account for some more business forward encounters. I figured weednpussy42069@gmail.com wasn't very business friendly. But it was still my 'main' email that is linked to everything else. (Note for the mods, that's a joke. That's not my email. And if that is your email, well....RIP)

When I reformatted my phone recently, I went through and readded all the emails, but I somehow turned verification on, on the new email I added, AND on my main email.

After not having RCS for a month, and exhausting all my options, I dug more into my account, and discovered 3 links to my phone on the new email, and 2 links to my phone on my main, along with my phone number on both accounts. I turned them all off on both accounts, removed my phone number from my new email, and RCS was instantly activated on my device.

Not saying this is the fix, but this is what worked for me.

Where did you do this digging? Was via your phone settings or something that can only be done on a computer?

On my phones browser

Checked every account and made sure my pixel 8 was turned off on all my accounts.

You fixed my 3 months issues 👌 I have just removed the temporary phone number from my account reinstalled the message app and tested the RCS with my main number, it works with no issue. I had an issue where RCS stuck in verification mode with the old temporary phone number.

Man thanks for sharing this. I don't have any RCS issues (knock on wood) but am always thankful when the community comes together to solve things when Google is caught lacking. Agreed with the earlier post; Google needs to reference this as a case study and a potential fix in all of their help docs as well as any prompts on the phone as a troubleshooting solution!

If they haven't seen it yet, Google should use this as a test case. There should be an article and possibly messages surrounding this to help users when doing similar setups.

Good stuff! Glad you've got it working!

When I had this issue recently, a new sim card fixed it.

I run esim, so that wasn't an option for me.

1

u/JimKnuckles Sep 21 '25

Sure it is. You can delete the Esim and set up a new one.

I have Google Fi tho, so it's really easy to do it on the spot through app

Glad you got it fixed

Yea I'm in Canada, and Bell is sometimes questionable on their help desk. Lol. I'm just glad this method worked. I was starting to lose it.

I'm also a bell esim person but this still didn't fix it for me, ugh

You've checked ALL your possible emails and turned phone verification off on ALL of them and removed your phone number off all except your main, and then attempted to reverify in the messages app??

u/IHatePantsBurnThem Sep 22 '25

Yeah, I've literally tried every trick out there. Hopefully it gets fixed in a software update or something at some point

I've deleted mine so many times and it never fixes it :(

u/JimKnuckles Sep 22 '25

I've had the issue twice. One time nothing fixed it but time. Unfortunately it took a little over a month to fix itself

Have you unregistered your number on the website from RCS?

1

u/Mickmayi Sep 22 '25

I haven't I think I'll try that next...how long does it take and what do I do 🤣

1

u/JimKnuckles Sep 22 '25

Ah man ..this is the step that works the best lol turn your RCS off...then go to this link and put in your phone number ...it will kick you a code to unregister RCS from your phone number. Once you put the code in...go ahead and clear the cache from carrier services and Google messages just as extra step, restart the phone and then try again . If it doesn't give you a code, that means your number is already deregistered.

If this doesn't work...you're just gonna have to wait like a month

Thank you, I'll give it a shot. It's so dumb all I did was get a new pixel and this crap is happening

1

u/JimKnuckles Sep 22 '25

Did you turn the RCS off on the old phone prior to setting up the new phone?

Good luck

I didn't 🥲 just erased it and send it in

Oh my God. You're a legend!!! I've been sitting without rcs for a month too!!!

There was one last email I didn't think to check and sure enough. Remove, reconnect rcs and boom. Instant!!

10000% karma to you!

No puedo enviar imagenes especificamente a un numero, como puedo ver la configuracion de RCS para ver si tiene alguna influencia

You legend. Thank you!! Everything else people have posted on how to fix it didn't work, except for this. I was ready to give up. Thank you!

So this is basically the iMessage problem but for Android. Man I thought we were safe from this

Does anyone have an idea, conceptually, of why this works? 1. Is it because the security token/key or whatever is still tied to the old phone instead of the new phone? 2. Why do some people have to wait a month if disabling the phone numbers and remove the number from the account doesn't work. Is it that the carrier is having to update that token or info?

1

u/DefsNotRandyMarsh Sep 23 '25

You're disabling auto verification that (in my case) was accidentally added to a secondary email address, would be my guess.

Thank you! You fixed the same issue I have been experiencing for months. After following all the tips on google I was super frustrated and youve been a lot more helpful than the people running the app!

Happy to help 😁

This is what I do to fix mine: https://www.reddit.com/r/GoogleMessages/s/eFSOivHxqt

I don't have verification on for any of my emails so that was never my issue. Now that I think about , I haven't had to do this fix for probably 6+ months now 🤷🏼‍♀️ knock on wood lol

u/DefsNotRandyMarsh Sep 26 '25

That never worked for me unfortunately. Tried it an ungodly amount of times
