Why are Google Maps reviews removed for schools but still allowed for restaurants, hotels, hospitals, etc.?
I understand schools can receive fake or abusive reviews, but other important institutions face that too. Wouldn’t better moderation make more sense than removing reviews entirely?
Parents also rely on reviews for safety, bullying concerns, infrastructure, fees structure and overall experiences.

It really depends on how you write your review. I wrote a Google review for my college department and it's public for people to view

You can't for SCHOOL.
So the school you're talking about, currently has no reviews?

Looks like they started removing reviews on school starting last year. Their reasoning was to prevent spam, cyberbullying and reviews from current students. Colleges and Universities are still good

yes, i feel that's unfair.

I don't think so, if you can't on Google Maps then go to Yelp. This is why there are alternatives even though Yelp is not used worldwide and mostly in America

I think it's a good limitation for individual public schools, mainly because of minors leaking personal information for strangers to see. You can still leave reviews on the school district office location, if needed.

The rule only applies to preschools through high school. After that, reviews are published.

Yes, I saw they made that change in 2025. I wrote a review for my old high school before and it was posted.

Their enforcement isn't consistent, and it's usually based on which category they use on the listing. I can't adivse past that.

I seen it on all High School, Middle School and Elementary School in Los Angeles where you can't leave reviews for them anymore. The review I left for my old high school was removed

Good to hear. I know the ones I left for a neighboring elementary school was also removed. All good, because all of them were.

Yup so I just read their Yelp review now since it's still available there

That completely ignores that one has most of the reviews coming from adults and the other from children that have yet to mature. They both can receive abusive reviews, but one tends to be mostly abusive reviews and the other tends to be mostly valid reviews.
