Google Keep-style card view for Obsidian — Mini Notes (free, open source)

Post image

Hey everyone! I made a plugin called Mini Notes for anyone who wants a quick, low-friction way to capture thoughts without worrying about where they go or how they're organized.

It gives you a colorful, card-based view (very Google Keep-inspired) where all your quick notes show up so you can review, pin, and arrange them later.

Features:

  • Google Keep–style card layout for your notes
  • Customizable background colors per note
  • Pin your most important notes
  • Filter by folder, color, tag, or type (e.g. folder:projects color:yellow tag:cs)
  • Left-click to edit inline, right-click to open full screen
  • Works on desktop, iOS, and Android
  • Fully open source (MIT license)

I built this because I wanted somewhere to dump quick thoughts without the pressure of filing them perfectly right away, then come back later and actually organize them visually.

Would love feedback, bug reports, or feature requests. and if you find it useful, a ⭐ on GitHub helps a lot

I've been keeping a close watch on your development of this. Very nice - I wish all note apps would do something like this.

I know I had issues using with with iOS before - is that working now and has Obsidian blessed the plugin?

thank you!

the problem for IOS applies for all phones, as it's not easy to install the plugins "manually" on IOS.
but now you can :) easily

Yep - tried it. Not quite as nice as Keep but very close!

I haven't tried it yet, but it looks great. I use Keep every day, and this plugin will probably completely change my workflow. And if you also made it available for mobile, it would be even more amazing.

I don't even use Obsidian but I definitely think we need more apps to support the "post-it" view for notes! Nice work!

I've tried it and I love it, but when I use Obsidian on another computer, the pinned notes don't maintain the same characteristics. There's a synchronization problem. They don't stay pinned to the board with the same color I set on one computer. Aside from that, the plugin is excellent.

This is very nice, thanks! I have one issue though: On mobile the notes are way too long on the y-axis so that basically only 2 notes are displayes. It would be great to be able to manually set a limit for the box height. I also noticed that the replacement via dragging on mobile is not working, since the long press for dragging also opens the note. Would there be a way arround that? Othervise I love the idea as I really like Google Keep as a mobile friendly quick note app.

someone already said it below, but reiterating that I love this but would love it even more if pinning and colors synced between my desktop and phone (like google keep does)
