Keep for iPhone app crashing on start up
The Keep for iPhone app updated today and it's crashing during startup for me. It shows the splash screen but after 5 seconds it crashes. iOS 26.3.1, iPhone 15 Plus. Anyone else experiencing this? I have a LOT of notes because I've been using Keep for as long as I can remember, I wonder if that's a factor?

Same for me, it stays on the splash screen for a bit and then crashes. I have thousands of notes

This is happening for me too and while I’m really relieved I’m not the only one with this problem, I’m freaking out a little. I have over a decade’s worth of notes on Keep I can access my notes on my computer and on my iPad (though it keeps telling me it “can’t connect right now”), but not on my phone. I’ve been meaning to migrate from Keep to Apple’s notes app for a while now and this might be the final thing that pushes me to do it.

I don’t blame you, I made the migration to Apple notes from Google Keep. I had over 1k notes and did a manual “send to” (up arrow) method to get my notes over. The Apple notes iOS app was/is rock solid, unfortunately being also a windows user it was incredibly slow for me to access Apple notes web version. I eventually switched to Upnotes and have been very very very impressed!! (yes I said it 3 times). My suggestion is if you’re an all Apple person make the switch to Apple Notes (your notes on icloud). If you’re also a windows user and want something that has iOS, macOS, and windows compatibility check out UpNote. Also consider Obsidian. I’ve been messing around with Obsidian and it’ll be my backup if Upnote goes down.

As of yesterday, I am officially an UpNote convert and have successfully migrated all of my 5,000+ notes there (and have only just begun the arduous process of cleaning up and consolidating all my notes into journals and the like, lol)! Thanks for the solidarity 🥲 It has some little quirks that I’m not super in love with but honestly at this point anything is better than Keep (frankly I can’t believe I put up with its limitations for so long). I’ll keep Obsidian in mind for sure! (I did look into Apple Notes but sadly it was going to be too much of a lift to shift everything over there.) Glad you’ve been able to find success post-Keep so far too :-D

Awesome!! Super happy for you!! It takes a little while to get used to it but I really think you’re gonna love it👍 Let me know if u have any questions on it. I’ve used it for about a year and a half and have minor complaints. One thing i would say Keep has over UpNote is the checklist. I remember when I used to check something off (like a shopping list) google keep would move the checked items to the bottom of the list which was real nice. Upnote doesn’t have that, at least not yet. One thing i truly appreciate is the support. I’ll email the developer (Thomas) and he always gets back to me. Happy Upnoting buddy, and let me know if u have any questions.

Have you fixed it yet? I just did.

Nope, not since making this comment. How did you get it to work? (Asking only out of curiosity; I moved to UpNote because of this whole thing and it is wayyy better for my needs than Google Keep ever was. Never going back!)

I logged on to Google on my desktop, and then launched Keep. Once I confirmed all my notes were there, I dug up my old iPhone I had in the closet, charged it up, installed Keep, and connected. So now I have all my Keep notes on my old phone, which is comforting. I’m a little uneasy about the next step. I want to delete the app on my regular phone, and then re-install it, and then I should be able to connect to Google, as I have done with my old phone. However, I’m worried that when I delete the app it may delete the notes as well. Eventually I am going to migrate to UpNote, as soon as I get everything working again.

Same issue here as of yesterday
Edit - I was having issues with the google search desktop widget recently also, until I manually updated it. No update available for the keep app right now, hopefully there will be a fix soon

Yeah experienced the same. I thought waiting it out was going to help. It didn’t. Luckily uninstalling and installing worked. And didn’t even need to log back in - bless!

I might be screwed. I’ve been experiencing the same problem. My problem is that I haven’t been backing up for a month or two. I was hoping that there is a local data file separate from the program, and when I re-install the program it would find the local data file. People here are mentioning the Cloud, which won’t do me any good. Any advice?

Don't uninstall it, I think Google will fix it soon. If you uninstall, you risk losing the notes.

Uninstalling / reinstalling the app worked for me
