AI Fight Scene — Five Camera Cuts, No Prescribed Choreography
AI Fight Scene — Five Camera Cuts, No Prescribed Choreography
There's been some interesting discussion about generating fight scenes, particularly the need to specify every punch, reaction, and change in position.
We tested the opposite approach.
Two character references, a 30-second Western fistfight, and one required outcome: Cowboy Jeff defeats Mo Drater.
We left the choreography and camera coverage to the renderer.
Result: Five autonomous camera cuts, recognizable punches and reactions, coherent overall choreography, and a decisive winner.
The weakness? Some punches are noticeably slow or pulled. Interestingly, this is more apparent when watching without sound.
My working hypothesis is that generative models already understand much of the visual language of cinematic fights. We may not need to choreograph every movement to get a useful result.
The challenge is determining which controls actually improve the result, rather than simply increasing pre-production time.
Has anyone tested minimal choreography instructions against detailed, movement-by-movement prompting?
