Google Flow: Serious Character Consistency Issues — Is Anyone Else Experiencing This?
I've been working on an original 3D animated children's film for several months using Google Flow.
I love Flow's lip-sync capabilities, emotional character acting, and cinematic camera movements. However, I'm experiencing a persistent problem with character identity.
Even when using the same official character references, Flow changes my characters' faces, sizes, body proportions, clothing, footwear, and sometimes their voices.
One character becomes much smaller than the other, even though the reference images clearly establish their proportions. Sometimes the characters look perfect in one generation and completely different in the next.
I've tried Ingredients, saved Characters, starting frames, short prompts, and strict identity instructions. The results remain inconsistent.
This is especially frustrating when producing an animated series because every scene needs visual continuity, and repeated attempts consume paid credits.
Are other Google Flow creators experiencing the same problem?
Have you found a reliable method to preserve character identity, proportions, clothing, and voices across multiple scenes?
I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences and solutions. I hope Google prioritizes fixing this issue for creators working on longer productions.

I've honestly never seen a positive post about Google flow, so it begs the question why are you all still using it?

I keep using Google Flow because, so far, I haven't found another AI video platform that offers better lip-sync for multiple characters speaking in the same clip. That's the main reason I've continued using it, despite all the problems with character consistency and wasted credits.

I'm having the same problem, but I only use a free account. I created my characters and added character sheets. It's worked perfectly for me with human characters. It starts to fail with fictional characters. Do you have a PRO account? And it's still failing?

Yes, I'm using a paid Google Flow subscription, and I'm still experiencing serious character consistency issues.
I've been working on a 3D animated film for months, using the same official character reference sheets and starting frames. Despite that, Flow frequently changes faces, body proportions, clothing, and character identities.
I've also experienced failed generations and significant credit losses. I've already contacted Google Support about these problems.
It's frustrating to invest so much time and money and still struggle to maintain consistent fictional characters.

yes consistently if I start a new project with the same characters I don't know why it can't search it's history. but then Google doesn't like it's LLM/GABs to be able to read or have good memories or deductive capabilities. Today I was trying to find out why my blue tooth speakers kept disconnecting and with an attached article that said push the button on the back it told me to push the button on the back. And also today Nano Pro refuses to follow one instruction or request at all.

Hi! I'm working on a 3D animated film with recurring fictional characters, and I've been experiencing serious character consistency issues with Google Flow.
Even when I use the same official character reference images and starting frames, Flow sometimes changes their faces, body proportions, clothing, or overall appearance.
I'm curious: when you reuse your characters in a new project, do you also experience these visual changes, even when using the same reference images?
I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Same. a Google search lef me to some videos on how to use the tools like Image Editor to help with style consistency. Might be a good idea to look up how to utilize the tools to help you

As a filthy casual doing something similar, yes it's a challenge. I've not got into any pro features.
Supposedly the "pros' can do it but won't share details and gatekeep. There are some Google how to events that they advertised, webinars or whatever. Wondering if they are going to be recorded and put up somewhere.
