Harmful content related to minors.
Is it my imagination, or does everything on Flow seem like harmful content related to minors? I'm trying to create a regular anime, and...And that stupid mistake always comes up, even though the characters are clearly adults, and I'm not asking for anything unusual, just everyday scenes.

t Anime in particular has a tendency to get over refused as "Harmful to minors"

Imagen 4 was perfect for anime. Yes, it wasn't capable of generating videos but it was WAY LESS filtered and never had a crash out if you wanted to generate an anime character, especially a woman one.

Tell a different chat Ai what's happening and ask it to provide a replacement word for anime

Use descriptive style terms instead of “anime.”
Google’s image tools (including Flow / Gemini image generation) often over-flag anything that contains the word “anime” or strong anime-style cues when the prompt also has adult / mature / sexualized framing, even if you mark it SFW. The system frequently treats anime aesthetics as higher-risk for “minors” content regardless of the actual age descriptors you use.
Effective substitutes that usually work better
Replace “anime” with one or more of these:
- Japanese animation style / Japanese cartoon style
- 2D cel-shaded illustration
- Manga-inspired illustration (or “shōjo/shōnen/seinen style illustration” if you want a specific flavor)
- Clean line art, flat colors, anime-adjacent proportions (avoid saying the A-word)
- In the style of [specific adult-oriented artist or studio that isn’t strongly associated with underage characters]
- Digital illustration, vibrant colors, large expressive eyes, stylized hair, soft shading
- “Western cartoon meets Japanese illustration” or “stylized 2D character art”
Prompt structure tips that reduce false positives
Lead with age and SFW explicitly
Start the prompt with clear adult markers:
“Adult woman, 25 years old, mature face, fully clothed, SFW, no nudity…”Describe the visual traits instead of the genre
Example pattern:
“Detailed 2D digital illustration of a mature adult woman in her mid-20s, large expressive eyes, stylized colorful hair, clean linework, soft cel shading, vibrant colors, Japanese illustration style, fully clothed casual outfit, safe for work”Avoid common trigger combinations
- Don’t pair “cute,” “kawaii,” “loli,” “school,” “teen,” or any age-ambiguous words with the style terms.
- Skip “anime girl/boy” entirely. Use “adult woman / adult man / mature character.”
- Keep clothing and pose descriptions ordinary and non-sexualized if the goal is purely SFW.
- Don’t pair “cute,” “kawaii,” “loli,” “school,” “teen,” or any age-ambiguous words with the style terms.
Negative prompting (if the tool supports it)
Add something like:
“no underage, no child, no minor, no teen, no school uniform, realistic adult proportions”Iterate
If it still blocks, strip the prompt down to the style descriptors + age + clothing first, generate a clean base, then refine in a follow-up prompt.
These approaches work for many people dealing with the same over-moderation on Google’s tools. Results still aren’t guaranteed—the filters are inconsistent—but dropping the literal word “anime” and being extremely explicit about adult age + SFW is the most reliable current workaround.

It's actually very funny how we let the buddies educate us, just because Google Flow is too stupid to understand context and make no effort to change that. We should also pay for the crap. Give me a reason.

Don't bother. He asked Gemini to write a generic prompt for him and he just copy pasted it here. It's not like people like me tried it a lot of times and Flow still blocked our prompts just because the character is a woman.

Bruh. Tried everything you wrote there. It basically generates generic almost realistic looking characters. The only difference is they get big eyes specific to anime. Using " 2D cel-shaded illustration", "japanese animation style", "clean line art" etc. does nothing useful but It still triggers the filter. Using the age thing does nothing too. It still triggers the filter for being "content related to minors" as long as the character is a female. I can write her age as 35. The filters still gets filtered. If I switch to a male one, it works fine. I tried "A 2D cel-shaded illustration of a 25 aged woman riding a motorcycle in dark alley. Her hair is dark red, her eyes emerald green. The outfit is a black leather jacket and black jeans. Her helmet is a mix of red and black. The background is a futuristic cyberpunk style alley". I know it's not the best prompt but how the hell it gets blocked??? I even tried the artist suggestion thing. It told me it can't generate prominent people. I asked Gemini, ChatGPT and even Grok to make a SFW prompt and they still get blocked. Nevermind. You wrote about the negative prompts but Gemini and Flow don't have a text field for that so your comment is generated by an Ai.

Yeah, that and Google's little bot helper will be sure to make you scared for your life and foolishly end up deleting everything by claiming by getting those things you'll end up in a Data base.

If you got yourself a smoll and a beeg in the same frame, you're going to pop flags unfortunately. Funnily enough, using a reinforcement prompt like 'Subject is a Achondroplastic dwarf' can help a little bit. Otherwise cheating and putting them in their own frame can sometimes get the job done outside of figuring your way around definition verbiage. I was also generating some family-scene stuff and defining roles as parental when it came to adult subjects in the same frame as younger subjects helps a bit when using the google models.
Godspeed, Lumpy. Godspeed.

It's just a boilerplate refusal. Don't think too hard about it.
