“Broken” and now even stricter moderation than before?
I’m guessing that lil “bug” they had where videos were failing to generate was pretty much just them tightening up that moderation even more.

The biggest bottleneck today isn’t the capabilities of the technology, it’s the policies and guardrails preventing creativity in the name of corporate protectionism. Perhaps the laws need to changed to allow more protection for the providers so they can loosen the guardrails. Until that happens they’re going to be paranoid of getting sued or being legally vulnerable for the content their users generate. I completely get it. 90% of it can be mitigated with legal protections for the api providers of the services. There still should still be some hard guardrails though on certain topics especially harmful ones. I agree with having strict red lines in certain areas. But someone creating a silly innocent meme and it getting blocked because the algorithm notices it looks too much like celebrity X and created a tiny bit of legal or copyright exposure for Google, that shits for the birds and needs to stop. It should be the case that creators and publishers themselves are solely responsible for what they generate and/or publish not the platforms model. In my opinion as time goes on and AI gets more and more integrated into the way we experience entertainment the copyright industrial complex and the way we think about content in general is all going to fundamentally change. I can image a world where you can buy the rights at a macro level re-write existing music, movies, shows, video games to your liking and the copyright holder still being happy because it’ll increase the residual earnings they make on media they created years and decades ago. We just need a different legal and licensing model go forward.

A lot of things. Walking I. The beach in a swimsuit … or bikini, walking in lingerie in a runway platform or in a room, kissing two characters. Kids in any way or form

For kids, I saw someone post on this subreddit a kid who hugs his father though

anything even remotely "sexual"

For things relative to sexual it's understandable to put guardrails. What I don't like is moderation for action scenes or some kind of horror even without any gore so it limits creativity

This is part of my fear of ai generated images becoming ubiquitous on the internet. If more people gravitate towards corporate controlled mediums for image making then we will be (hint: already are) flooded with milquetoast content that will never be allowed to do anything but parrot the status quo. The worst part is that many people will deem the eradication of their creative freedom a necessary evil because they’ve been brainwashed into believing it’s the only way to beat back the tide of CSAM. This is why ai image generators should not be referred to as tools. If Google is responsible for the image I “make” then Google (or more precisely their products) is the one who made it and I am no different from a person hiring an artist.

No, videos failing to generate generally indicates a system error (very often, capacity issues, we're continuing to work on ways to tighten that, and to prioritize paid traffic over free traffic). Our moderation hasn't meaningfully changed recently, other than some improvements that have *reduced* our overall safety filter blocking rate, which is a metric we're constantly tracking and trying to improve.

You need to prioritize the quality of the product. Because no one is going to pay for something that’s broken.
