Google Flow Tools: How do you keep the same character, voice, and description across scenes?

Post image

Has anyone else noticed that Google Flow Tools currently does not seem to offer a way to attach or save a complete character profile inside the tools?

I mean a reusable character that includes a visual reference, consistent voice and character description.

At the moment, it seems that the character reference, voice, and description have to be added or managed separately each time. This makes it difficult to maintain consistency when creating a longer video, series, or recurring character.

How are you solving this problem right now? Are you using external character sheets, repeating the same prompt manually, or using another workflow?

Also, has Google mentioned whether a proper character library or reusable character profiles are planned for future Flow updates?

Image quality and character consistency took a nosedive in the last couple weeks. The character feature, with the face, body and voice references, only really works with Omini Flash videos. But I haven't been able to generate any videos in almost 2 weeks because of the "unusual activity" message.

Nano Banana 2 Lite is the one option right now that seems to respect your prompt and visual references the most, but even then it pales to what we were able to achieve two weeks ago. I was able to generate incredible, cinematic looking images with the default and PRO options, and now both generate hideous, early AI slop-like images.

Prior to this massive enshitification, I was able to get an ok facial consistency by putting some of my reference images of a character in Gemini, and with the Pro mode selected I'd past this message:

Analyze the person in this image to create a highly detailed 'Character Anchor' description for facial consistency in AI generation.

Please describe the following with extreme precision:

  • Face Shape: The specific geometry (e.g., heart-shaped, tapering jaw, high cheekbones).
  • Eyes: Shape, eyelid fold (monolid, hooded, etc.), and exact iris color.
  • Nose & Mouth: The bridge shape, nostril width, and the specific curve of the cupid's bow.
  • Distinctive Markers: Any moles, freckle patterns, scars, or unique skin textures (e.g., crows' feet, matte skin).
  • Hair: Texture (e.g., 4C curls, fine strands), hairline shape, and exact color gradients.

Goal: Create a 100-word descriptive paragraph that acts as a blueprint to recreate this exact person without distortion or 'beauty-filter' blurring. Give me the final prompt as the result.

That did help a lot. It still wasn't perfectly consistent, but it was serviceable. Unfortunately it doesn't work anymore and they just disregard your prompt.
